Hi guys, I'm in the market for a dedicated surf paddle (birthday present from the good lady wife) and am after some advice.

I'm currently using a Fanatic Innegra adjustable 8"wide paddle and find this a great paddle both on the flat and in the surf... Although being a beginner I'm sure I'd say the same thing about whatever paddle I had

Some stats which may assist....
I'm 6'2" and 110kg and paddle a Fanatic Fly 11' and am only just getting the hang of catching a wave.
I'm currently thinking a Kenalu Wiki or Ho'ola may fit the bill?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

if your good lady is shouting get a strong paddle. the QB slim jim is sweet, ke nalu also have great rep for strength. i have snapped a few innegra which were replaced on warranty which is excellent support, but it is still a hassle. the fanatic blade is really nice though... maybe a full carbon would be better?

There's a few blokes around the country your size using the Ke Nalu Wiki in the surf.
The Wiki is better than the Ho'oloa for surfing IMO.
Your local dealer should be able to hook you up with a demo.....if not shoot me a message and we'll see what we can work out

I'm 6'2" 10kg and i use a QB Kanaha 90 for my short boards and a QB Slim Jim for my 11ft + boards. The 90 has a softer/more flexible shaft and the smaller blade size means you can up your cadence during take off. The Slim has a stiffer shaft and the larger blade means slower cadence, however on a longer board you only need two good long slow strokes and your on.

If you have a choice ,I'd go a qb they have couple nice options, I personally have a slim jim, I use it for surfing mainly it's a great blade ,I also have an old c4 which is a awesome blade as well but sadly , c4 waterman's quality seem's to be in the toilet at the moment so I' d steer clear of them . Kialoa have a great rep some of the boys here swear by them, I finally saw one just a few weeks ago and yes they do deserve there praise very nice in deed ,would I get one ? Nah , not for me .kenalu are good with these blades you can parts around really easily which can be handy , the high quality of these blades keeps it away from them being a gimmicky sales ploy . Personally I'd wouldn't bother with the other brands there crap , I'll keep that comment quite general as to not brand bash to much!!! Goodluck happy shopping there's nothing like getting new gear
