Hi All, thought I would drop a line on my experience of the new Super Frank 7'6 Lean - in short, absolutely love it!!!! Went from a Striker 9'5 to the 7'6 SF Wide (115L) - currently weigh 82kg. Got the board about 3 months ago- for the first few weeks didn't like it as much, kept falling in and found what everyone else was experiencing going from a long to a shorter board with the front-back tippy feel - takes time to find that sweet spot. Anyway after a week away in Hat Head and catching waves every day I realised the potential of a small board with nice easy turns on the wave and why I wanted a smaller board. I have come back wanting something smaller again in litres as I have got use to the amazing stability of the board for it's size. I wondered if the 7'6 lean (100 litres) would be the way to go! Good news my mate loved this board so sold it to him and took the risk of buying the less volume version. Only been out on it once since I got it 2 days ago and was ideal as it was very choppy and keen to know if I could use this comfortably in those conditions - for some weird reason I found it easier than the 7'6 wide - perhaps its lower to the water or the plane of the board is easier to get going, I don't know but I love it! Anyway for whatever size of Super Frank you should get don't doubt the stability as the design is amazing and the tail is still narrow for turning, unlike the Hypernut! Awesome board - I hope by next year Jimmy will make an ultra lean version as I would get one lol!

I'm thinking about hopping on the 7'6 lean as well, I'm roughly 78 - 80 kg, and I've had the JP Surf Wide 7'4" x 31", I didn't much care for it as it would yaw pretty hard taking off, and I could definitely feel the width.

My quiver as of now is 8'8" SuperTech (which I could go smaller now I believe) - for bigger days - chest+
10'1" JL Black and Blue (my favorite board of all of my gear)

and I had a 7'11" F-One Madeiro (104L), which I rode in waist-chest high stuff, fun board, but I feel like the 7'6" SF will give me more range and handle mushy stuff better (which I have a lot of on the east coast).

Any thoughts from anyone who's ridden the JP Surf Wide and the SF?

The 8' SF Lean is also a great size & likely has a bit more range in the mushy stuff.

I just put the 7'6 "Lean" into demo this morning & rode it out at average Toowoon Point but still had soooo much fun.... I've only had the "Wide" model in demo but jumped on the "Lean" & paddled straight out into some fun little waves... I couldn't believe the stability for such a small board... It surfs like a performance sup but with the stability of a wider board.... The "Wide" model certainly grovels amazingly but the "Lean" just hung in there when pushed a lot harder off the rail & tail....
Looking forward to riding it in some good waves at Scotts Head this weekend..., :)

Yeah, I'm mainly debating between the 7'6" and 8' lean,. I have a 8'8" SuperTech that I really like, and probably should have gone down to 8'3", but I'm comfortable on it, but feel the swing weight of the larger size in smaller, mushier surf (which is what I'm in most of the time). I'm 78 kg, and I've surfed a 7'11" @104L that was a bit uncomfortable because of chinned rails, and a 7'4" Surf Wide, which I had no issues paddling but it yaw'ed pretty bad on a wave, and I'd like a little performance than that board. So, 7'6" @ 29", 100L sounds like a challenge, 8'0" @ 115 L sounds like a bit too much volume.

Quick response on the 7'6" SF Lean - I'm 78 kg (175lbs), fairly experienced rider, mostly east coast USA mush. I've had this board for 2 months or so now in a variety of conditions, knee high mush, head high hurricane swell, etc.

-Performance:
The main thing with this board is you can ride much shorter than typical with stability to support you. I have absolutely no issues with stability on this board, frankly, I could go a bit thinner overall and lose probably another 5-10L of volume and be fine. The board does not yaw like the JP Surf Wide. I do take waves a bit later than I would on the SuperTech, a few quick paddles and I'm in. It's very lively, and I can get to the tail really easily even on weak waves. On steeper waves, you do have to keep your wits to make sure you don't pearl it based on the rocker (which is obvious based on it's design).

-Build/Quality:
I have not had any issues with rail scrapping on this one, I had issues with the SuperTech, and my Hippostick paddle seems to scrape all my boards eventually (same happened with the F-One board I had). I love the design, and simple color scheme. Fins are solid, I started with a thruster setup but have moved to the quad. My only downside is the pad becomes quite slick, ever since moving to a waxed top, I almost prefer it. It's a bit more work each session to wax, but I know I have stability.

Who this board is for:
If you are in that 70-80 kg range and fairly experienced, I see no issues with dropping down to the 7'6" Lean, it's great for weaker waves and overall progression as you can get back on the tail so easily and work the board as it's designed for. I will basically ride it in almost all east coast conditions except for when we have overhead hurricane swell with strong offshores, or in pumping Costa Rica surf, etc. when I use my SuperTech.

My quiver is pretty much complete at this point, I may drop down the 8'8" SuperTech to the 7'11" at some point in the future, but.....right now I'm pretty happy with what I have.
