Looking for my first all around board. 160lbs and 5'9. Ideally would spend 90% -95% just cruising and a little bit of surfing. Close to pulling the trigger on the naish nalu 10'6. Does anyone have any other suggestions. I.e. Is this the right board/size. Thanks in advance to any advice.

NSP 10'6 is a good board for what you want.

If your 90% cruising have a look at the 12'6'' BOP style boards, or even a 14'' (Hobie, DC, Fanatic, Bark ect) they paddle so much better and you can still crack a wave or two.
Good luck

Value for money - 10.6 NSP is hard to beat. 10.5 Starboard drive is probably the best 10 1/2 fter on the market for what you are asking. Naish 10.6 is slow and tippy compared to most other sups that size.
Also IMHO - bop style boards are a complete woftam for anything other than bop. Stick to a nice mid-length surf style sup and you cant go wrong.

I agree the Starboard 10'5 Drive is hard to beat but there is also the Coreban 10'6 Rocket and Angulo 10'10 are also great cruisers that are surfable.

Hi all, I would suggest to go and test the Starboard 10'5 Drive. I have had a Starboard 10' Whopper for a year and it is great for waves, if I was not in the waves it would have been the Drive! Cheers

the simon anderson 11' would be a good choice for you great for cruising and works well in the surf as well, and it's your lucky day i am going to be selling my mint condition board.

10'2" PSH Paddler. Brand new with paddle $1200.00. Paddles fantastically, surfs well and is really stable. Just make sure to get the rail tape. They chip easily but are very, very solid.

Hey Tom,
The Naish 10'6" Nalu is a good board for what you want want to do... you could even step it up to an 11'4" Nalu and get a little bit more glide speed on the flat water!
The fanatic 10'0" fly is a really goo all-round board, its a super versatile!

Also as Savage said, a race board could be a really good option too, with 90A% cruising, you will find a 12'6" more enjoyable on the flat water, and you can still catch solid waves on them too!

You are smaller and lighter than myself by about 25lbs. I went with the Naish Nalu 11'6" and am a very happy camper. I think you'd also like to go the length if you want to paddle. Perhaps the 11'4 nalu is the go for you? I've seen smaller guys ripping it up on some small and mushy surf on this board.

These narrow boards don't yaw and can catch the smallest of wave out there, as well as getting some good glides on the down wind paddles.

If you're only out for paddling for cross-training then you may want to look at even longer boards. The blokes around my area are buying up the 14-footers after getting embarassed by the girls on their 12'6" glide boards.

I am much heavier at 260lbs. My first board this past July was a Fanatic 11'6" and had 231 liters of volume. My buddy was begging to buy the board so I sold it to him and bought an 11' Fnatic Fly with 213 liters of volume. The 11 ft. board glides and turns much better.

My point go with less volume especially at your weight. From what I have read the reviews on the Naish 11'6" are great. At your weight I would drop to the 11'4" at a max. If you plan to surf consider a Mana or a Fanatic Allwave.
