Hi , just bought a new speeed and was wondering if anyone else has grip problems as in being slippery or do I just have Mong feet cheers

My speeeds deck was a little smooth to begin with. Just needed a couple of days to wear it in. Some people have various tricks to break it in sooner, but I'm not sure its worth the effort.

I've owned a speeed in the past and found the deck pad to be super grippy,maybe the dome deck if putting you off?

Some new pads can be a bit slippery due to dust and various residues collected in the factory.
Just brush them with a stiff brush and soap or mild housecleaning products.

If it is still slippery, try to seek another sunova owner to compare them, to see if your pad is defective, or if you need to adapt your stance: with domed deck, your feet must stay away from the rails, so you must paddle with your feet more close to the center line, which is better for balance anyways.

Yep mine is slippery. Not enough to do anything drastic about, but enough to write that it is.

Sometimes i slip off with no real reason, but i have learned to live with it.

Yes I think it is what it is , although I have ridden Speeeds in the past so hoping it gets a bit more grip as time goes on have only been out 4 times in small stuff but next week looks the biz so I can't wait to max the board out might even wax the pad and see how that goes . Thanks for all the responses

Sometimes a pad will come through that has less grip, I have taken heavy grit sandpaper to a pad....just rip up the surface a bit to add grip.
Occasionally, walking through the car park will get oil on your feet, and that transfers to the pad. Then I scrub my feet and the pad with beach sand.
One time my booties needed hot water and soap to get oil off.

my 8.10 speed deck pad was really slippery the first few times but now its all right , as the guys said before i guess its just residues from plant ,packing, dust etc..

Same problem here, first few paddles on my Speeed lead my to slip off a few times.
The pads bed in, they just need salt water and sand to bed them in.
You'll be fine after a few sessions.

TOO much sunscreen or moisturiser perhjaps?
My speeed deck is opposite, going from seated to standing (no knees for me) if i am wearing a shortie or board shorts my knees and legs get carpet burns from the grip.

I have made the same observation with my new 'Creek' which is also my first Sunova board.... Grip felt less than positive for the first few surfs but I am either getting used to it or it has started to wear in. Might try a light scuff as well. Got to say the pad is very comfortable to stand on though.
