The long range forcast for New England was so cold and nasty that I loaded some boards in my van and went walk-about. Not going home till summer.

21 knot northerly, may get to 30 knots.
Downwind territory for the Retirement Boys (of which there are too many).
First World problem at home - set pool temp to 29c, but has crept up to 31c by itself.
Further First World problem - I'm sitting in the office, distracted already by Seabreeze!

i wish you guys hadn't of shown me this ,I just put my 11.6 glide up for sale ...I just always seem to want to surf everything I ride now a days ..this could be fun .
nozza ,can you buy these off the rack or do you have to order them ,I get my boards from surf fx .

Apart from the colour scheme, thruster boxes, and forward fin box, it's a "standard" board.
But I don't think anyone would hold them as stock. AA said in Merimbula he brings in a couple per year.
AA or SurfFX would probably know more.

I ordered one a month ago and should get it in March. Up to three month wait at this stage. It all depends when shops are getting container in but you could order direct from Sunova . I couldn't say if that would be any cheaper or quicker.

i do surf my 11.6 a bit but ,have you ever nose dived a flat water board ...?i feel like a pea on a plastic spoon sometimes . But it's the perfect size for small waves
so much fun so much speed ....
i reckon this 12 would be loads of fun ...I think it's a brilliant idea.

Pulled in nose, pointy nose, doesn't grab on the way out, and you can poke it in and recover it on the way in.

they should of named it all terrain ..ice ,snow ,glass and waves .

i like the way you can cut back on it ..I can't do that very well on my 11.6 .( no rocker)

it certainly has some great speed on little waves ...

The 12 foot shape is like the ultimate all rounder. I have a similar board of that shape , length and litreage and I am only 65k (but different brand).
Not brave enough to take out on a beach break though even in small stuff. Great for river mouth and bay surf where I use it. I would love one of these 12 foot Search boards .
A great board for beginners, long terms hacks and experts alike

As STC said, no trade secrets.
They score the deck balsa to get a resin bond between the upper and lower glass layers.
STC posted a link to one of Bert's videos on this, here or elsewhere.
If I was smarter, there would be a link here.
The original spec sheet noted this....


Looking at that, they must tint the deck resin black to enhance the look.
Note this is structural, (not the tint), done on this board even though it is going to be painted.
Like STC said, note no black lines on the bottom of the board, or better seen on the bottom of the board below.


Correct me if I'm wrong Rick or Dylan.

Thanks I wonder how they actually do it. It must be done once the balsa is glued on. I guess the black is graphite powder or something hard. It looks like the dugouts in the background have it on the sides.

Or maybe they score the balsa then when they bag it on the epoxy oozes through? Must be a nightmare to sand.

i remember doing a lot of these on these up the tail and plant the foot moves ,on my 11.4 nalu ..
its a long swing back ,but a run up the front will straighten these babies up .

are you riding this with a single .?

JEG, it's the only option if you want to turn these big boards.

I found that, even when paddling out on my 14'er, I am well behind the handle.
If I paddle in my flat-water position, I find the big board a bit stiff, but very comfortable if back a bit (#1)

riding across a wave I am usually quite far back as well (#2)

stepping back for a cutback is quite easy, since you are so far back anyway. (#3)
