I have never ridden a placid so can't compare.
But I own two smiks a 8'5 x 30 120L and a 8x29 107L. I'm 6'2 and 95kg and find them to be both fairly stable. I will take the 8'5 in anything and use the smaller board on the cleaner days but have taking it out in some voodoo chop and it was manageable.
The smiks sit fairly tail heavy in the water so they can take a bit of power to get them going if the wave is a bit full. But you might not have this issue being 75kg.
They are an amazing board on the wave and turn so easily. They can get a bit skatey on big powerful waves but I enjoy that loose skatey feel.
As fair as durability goes they are super strong boards. My 8'5 I have had for over a year and there are no paint chips. But I have repaired it twice but I abuse my gear and surf in any conditions. My two are the carbon versions one weighs 6.6kg and the other is 7.4 kg
Thanks Nugdam. I notice there is only 2L difference between the 8'0" and 8'3" V2. The 8'3" may be more versatile as my one board.
