I've a couple of questions about the flow and speed. Hope someone can answer:

1) Does the flow come with the quad or tri fin set up i.e 4 or 4 fins included?

2) I recently purchase a 10' Sunova style (not yet received) and have heard the side fins can make turning the board quite difficult. Have style owners experimented with changing the fin set up and how successful were they?

3) When are the 2017 boards going to be released. Do you think the models will be changed dramatically from the current crop?

thanks,

Jonathan

I found with my 10' Style that it's more the centre fin that's the problem. Big base and large rake make it pretty stiff.
Bert seems to love BIG fins. Then again, he is in the over 100kg club.
I'm currently running a 9.25" Skip Frye Volan as a single fin, and it seems to be working really well. Much more upright fin.
Board turns nicely. Will be trying it with some small side bites soon.

Like you, interested to know when the 2017 boards will be released.

I have the Acid and have played around with the fins and have been stoked on the large FCS Nexus H3. The stock Sunova fins are quite big but work well. I reckon it's worth playing around with different fins to personalise the feel and performance.

Yep flow come in quad with a full set of fins thruster and a set of quads but I just put in some smaller fcs quads in my 8'7 and love it the bottom turn has good bite and drive but when you snap a turn the board tail slides really nicely super fun

Hey Jonathan,

Slugga has you covered on the Flow / I agree with Wicksy about the box fin which my Style came with & StevO is bang on about experimenting with different fins.

There's an old thread where you can see some feedback about Sunova fins: www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Stand-Up-Paddle/Review/Sunova-Speeed-fins/

Sunova offer good quality fins in several options (74 / 83 / 94 & 105's) corresponding to a riders weight so it's probably worthwhile asking if you want a specific setup. Bert matches fins to a specific board however a riders weight & fin preference are the obvious variables. They also have several box fin options (length & rake) for your Style so maybe get in touch with Sunova or your retailer. Good luck.

P.S Stev0 - do the K4 fins work with Sunovas?

First session on the 8'10" Speeed this afternoon, riding it as a single fin. First 10 odd waves were on my starboard 10' Nose rider and then i switched over. What a fun ride the Speed was, no issue with catching waves or the nose pearling and then on the bigger waves i found the boards picked up speed really well and was super loose, really enjoyed riding it and keen to get it on something a little bigger

I find longboard shapes work well with these single fins. 8,9&10"

The K4 Fins worked well as they are smaller and flexier than the stock Sunova fin 105 that came with my 8'11 Acid. I used 2x K4 Ezzy 14cm and ran a K4 Stubby in the middle.

it is important to understand fin design & then relate that to your board choice ,and then relate those factors to the waves on the day..d happy to talk it thru ..
