Davesandan, I paddle both these boards locally in Sydney.
The 14 x 27 Faast (1) and 14 x 27 Ocean Faast (2). We have them both in Demo and a 14 x 28 Ocean Faast in stock
The 14 Faast are very good harbour and open water racing boards. Normally ridden narrower, I find this board super quick and stable as an all-rounder if I go a bit wider - thus the 27" as we get pretty rough water in the harbour. We have a few guys racing and placing on these boards in our Balmoral SUP-X series where we regularly get 40 paddlers turning up. On the Flats and small shop they are up there with the best and super stable for their width
The new 14 Ocean Faast handles rougher water, Ocean and down-wind paddling. It has an initial roll with secondary stability. Once again up there with the best in terms of speed. Not quite as stable as the Faast (1). I ride 27" so 28 or 29" would be the go for more stability.
The SUNOVA Race boards are a slightly lighter construction than the XXX balsa boards. We have had no issues with durability and hear of no issues reported.

That's excellent info thanks very much, I was thinking of 29 wide as Port Phillip bay can get very choppy as well and my balance is average.
