Thought you guys would like to see this, Inspired by Nozza I started thinking about customizing one. After some back and forth we are settling into a Search base design with some tweeks to make it a big guys Pt Break machine 12' x 32" 198L awaiting Bert's final blessing on final dimensions etc. Rick aka-Creek has helped me along the way as we surf together a bit, we're betting this girls going to be a crowd pleaser, actually a crowd controller!!!

My specs: 6'4" 225lb without rubber, decent surfer, kitesurfer etc, Southern NE USA. I want a 12' board that paddles with good glide and stability to reach my local point breaks, surfs well 2' to 10'.

Pt Break Search Ideas:
~ 5 fin setup, want to be able to run quads and/or single fin.
~ Bump out width and or some thickness to add stability and volume for my weight (225 to 245 w/full rubber), does added rail curve help the turning ability?
~ Round Pintail
~ No deck bow plugs, mast attachment etc, just a GoPro/FCS mount on nose
~ 2x leash plugs
~ Emerald Green resin tinted, see pics

Pretty stoked to get this going

Cheers!

If I was riding that in predominantly 2-3ft surf most of the time then for me it would be too gunny.
I'd drop the entry rocker down and widen the tail slightly finishing off with a square tail or even a swallow for better turning ability. Keep some rocker in the tail but flat through the middle for extra trim.
Just my opinion...

I haven't ridden the 12 search before ,but i think the rocker looks very similar to the flow ,which is a great board .
once your on the tail the nose comes up .

Easy to catch little waves ,with speed ..its next on my list .

Looks like some good tweaks there.
Good to see another custom happening.
Tardy, your list must be long.
Or wide - "next" seems to have a few entries.

rbgar.... I just posted this vid on Nozza's thread, before I saw that you had put this up.

This vid is a few from a session I shared with rbgar, when he demo'd my 14' Search.
He took to it instantly and got some great rides!

His best wave< iwas turned 180 to him, so I swivled my head enough to get a 1 sec clip of his ride before my neck snapped back away from him.
Here's the only frame I got of rbgars wave.

and here's a few clips from my Kook Hat Cam

I am SUPER stoked about rbgar's design...... I want one!!!
Can't wait to see it and surf it!

I'm feeling the need here too! Although I've got a 10-4x28 performance gun this board might be that more comfort easy gun/flat ocean cruiser I'm missing.
Would this replace your Search?

And to believe I've stated to the household budgetary manager the my custom Acid maid the quiver complete.

do you prefer the rounded pin over the original square tail ..

just comparing my acid to my flow ,i found the quads are best with the square back .

but rounded holds a nice line ...

i converted my 9.1 acid to a quad option ,but its best as a thruster ..the quad just turned it into a speed machine
which wouldn't be a bad thing with this 12 ...

big wave ready

Beaut looking stick RBG! I'm 'green' with envy!
she's gonna be a down the line speed machine with that lovely rounded pin - that's for sure.
And big ups to you for taking inspiration from Da Bull.
I don't reckon Greg Noll would ever have imagined one of his guns would inspire a 12' SUP in 2018/19.
Great stuff mate - good on ya.
Looking forward to see how this one comes out of the shaping bay!

Ok boys the overall dims are finalized, now for Bert and Co to do their magic. Very stoked for this board, I think she's going to be one fine ride!

Cheers and Happy New Years to everyone

One last change, I'm going with a ledge handle instead of the LiftSup. I've also requested a arch bar in the tail kick pad. Now the painful wait while she's shaped and into the next scheduled USA shipment this May. Hopefully they will send progress pics!

Thx guys! Sorry no updates on my end yet but will post ASAP, my only last minute change was a ledge handle and arch bar in the tail pad. Frothing in the freezing NE winter, we had nice wave yesterday but it was so cold sea smoke blowing, can't do those days anymore!

Update; Just heard from Creek, told me that when he was going over my custom 12ftr details with Bert & Co they all are super amped on the new design along with the US importer.

Well now we have six being built for the next delivery to the States. Board is officially called Sunova 12' Point Break!

actually..... Unofficially

I convinced the US distributer to order some for the next container.... and told him I liked that name.
Sunova is building them for us.... but hasn't yet commented on if it will be a new model.

At least we will have ours.
I'll make movies
