I am writing this review from the perspective of an intermediate 84kg sup surfer. I live 30 minutes from the beach. I had been looking for a true one board solution for a long time and had tried many boards around the 130 litre range, all of them good in their own right. As soon as I saw photos of the revolution, I knew it was a board I was interested in. I purchased the 10 x 28 @ 127 litres. The construction of this board is beautiful. It looks excellent and feels tough. Even the carry handle feels so much better than other boards. The board is very comfortable and stable to paddle. Most of the volume is forward of centre. When paddling out, the pinched rails are under the water line and water washes over the back of the board.

The revolution jumps on waves so easily. It pivots off the tail like nothing I have had before. The swing weight feels so much better than other ten footers. The fin set up is unreal. 2 x 105 side bites and a 94 rear make this board perform so well. This is the first board I have had where I have been happy with the stock fins. I was worried it may be a bit loose in the tail for nose riding with a smaller rear, however the rail holds nicely when nose riding. The feature that has impressed me the most is how well the board responds from the centre. Even when standing with parallel feet, a slight dip of the rail makes the board change direction and take off. I am usually looking to get to the nose, but have been having so much fun from the tail and middle of this board. I haven't had it in any size yet but all indications look good as to it's bigger wave potential. Money well spent.

I have a 9' 30" expected to arrive in the next week or so. I can let you know how that goes when I get it. I currently have a bamboo 10 Stylemaster that it will be replacing with some mixed thoughts as it has been a great board for last 3 years.

Sunova is an excellent brand and the balsa boards are tough from my past experience. (3 Sups 7'11 Speeed, 8'5" Speeed and 8'3" Soul)( and 3 surfboards).

Yep - been eyeing these also HappyH.

Unreal. I've had it in some bigger stuff. I think it goes better the bigger it gets. I still can't believe how responsive and maneuverable it is for a 10 footer. Get one.

Looks like a ripper - Seems to be the 10x28/29 at around 125-130 litres is the sweet spot for them.

Review of 9' 30" 127l Revolution after first ride.

Me: 62yo, 80kgs long time supper since the early days. Have had more boards than I can remember including 3 Sunovas 7'11" and 8'5" Speeeds, and 8'3" Soul. Have come from longboard background. Recently sold 8'3" Starboard pro and traded my 10' Fanatic Stylemaster. The board was bought from Standupsurf Shop in Fremantle at full price.

I loved the Stylemaster but after 3 plus years and seeing the original post above,my curiosity got the better of my wallet. With limited space and the poor surf in Perth I wanted a one board solution. I went for the 9 by 30 as i can fit it in my car if necessary. I mess around a bit on a sup foil and wing ding too so maybe my balance is not as good as it once was so that also came into consideration. I had a call from the shop Wednesday afternoon saying she was waiting. I managed to escape the next morning to pick her up. Like Mickeyb states she looks real good. First job was the hexatraction grip before getting her wet.

Yesterday afternoon I had just got home and hoped there would be a wave so I headed to Cot. Yes the conditions were nice but the surf could have been bigger. Anyway time to get her wet. First jump up I noticed there was more volume up front and less down back than my old 10'er. At the end of the session I was used to it and no issue. The sets were not regular and had no grunt when they came so it was probably a good test. I did a lot of paddling for rubbish that I wouldn't normally try for and was surprised how easily she caught these little runners. Just paddle hard, weight forward and front foot forward and she glides away. In comparison to the Stylemaster, which was excellent in this area, it may have be better. Off the tail on late drops it is easy to keep the nose out of the water with the constant rocker. Getting back she is pretty nimble and maybe faster than the Stylemaster but it is early days as the waves didn't have enough juice to show her speed off. After half an hour I tried to get on the nose and the board feels like it is made for it. I think this the easiest nose riding board I have ever been on. Hang 5 was a dream.

All in all it she made a good first impression. The fins felt fine and worked well. Later I will try some H3s and MRs to make a comparison. I am hoping that this board has the Sunova spring effect that my old 8 ball surfboard did. All in all I think it is a very easy board to ride. Maybe the 28" version would be better but Happyhaydo can fill us in on that story. Time now to get to know the board better and see what we can do together.

Second surf today. This time at Mandurah and the conditions were pretty nice. Bigger than the first time and a good test. After today I am very happy with the board. First time I stepped on the tail I ended up falling off. The speed was way faster than I expected. Yes on the back she has a bit of speed - way more than I was expecting.

This is a perfomance board and also a very good all round board. Easy to ride up front, blasts on the tail and catches waves very easily. If you are in the market for a long board style sup that can still turn hard then I don't think you will be disappointed.

This was exactly the board I was hoping for.

I have the 9'28" on order coming soon from WSS (I hope) and am FROTHING. I have had a number of boards in the meantime that were good (and then sold) but they were not quite what i wanted. This board looks like THE BUSINESS.

Would love to know how a 9 foot version goes for midgets like me.

Also what is the real difference between these and the Style ?

I have ordered a custom 10"8 x 32. 163L. being 6"4 and 105kg I went larger for the glide on those 1-3ft summer days.

Hi, im riding a 9ft stylemaster. was looking for slight refinement The revolution at the same 115lt volume is slightly narrower different fin setup and slightly lighter, Wondering if it will be all im looking for in a slight refinement

I went from the 10' Style master to a 9' revolution in 30" width. Was better in every respect. Much more than I expected.

It may be worth an upgrade. I believe your board is pretty good.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like going from the style to this board was alot of fun . Yes the style 9ft is a good board, it can cover alot of bases . Be interested if anyone has surfed the 9ft 100 litre. Im probably going to get a 9ft 115litre just to expand the range of conditions I can use it in due to mushy choppy waves.

My revolution has arrived 9,28 this board is so light and the finish is absolutely sensational

johndg, that sup sounds great but how's the stability? I'm 72 [73 in December] and weigh 70 kg. My strength is fine and have no balance worries on my old McKill 9'6" x 31.5 but it is very heavy [lots of water inside I suspect] and I think that helps with stability. My 8'10" Speeed is great in clean conditions but twitchy in a bit of ruffle. I like glide, ease of catching waves and long, carving turns. But stability is key for me as I enjoy relaxing and chatting with my mates while waiting for the next set. Do you think 30" might be enough to suit my needs?

Given your weight I think the 9' x 30 would be fine. It has plenty of volume for me with no balancing difficulties. As you mentioned that you like to relax out on the water you could also consider the 10 x 28 ( I was deciding on this one as well) or the 10 x 30.
10' boards are fun.

johndg, Ta for that reply. Yes I was thinking of the 10' 30". My prone surf days finished with long boards only but a bad shoulder forced me on to sups and I'm not sorry at all. Fingers crossed, I'm looking forward to a few more years of Sup'ing but my next board may be the last I buy so I want to make a "wise" choice. The difficulty is being able to demo sups to make the right decision. Cheers.

Sunova is a great brand. I have never had an issue with the 8 Sunova boards I have owned and surfed hard. They are light, strong and look great. The Revolution looks real good. I didnt demo this board and just pulled the trigger. Easy to ride and more performance than I ever expected.

Best of shopping and post a review if you pull the trigger.

The thing about performance longboard sups, I believe, is that they are fun! You can cruise, you glide, catch tiddlers or big ones or you can move it up. But above all it is fun.

Ok I finally got the 9,28 revolution wet today
conditions were bumpy 2-3 foot .
firstly I have to say this boards looks sensational and for a factory model thumbs up. wouldn't bother on a custom . Paddling out it's super stable so that's definitely not a issue at all I think I could've gone down a size to 26.5 wide considering I ride jp pro 8.6 29 wide this is so stable but it dips the rail perfectly. It has a domed deck so I stood staggered stance closer to the handle it felt like it had stability 32 inch
so let's tick that perfect so don't be scared by number on width and go up to larger sizes . On the wave the revolution is super smooth and stable as you paddle for the wave and dropping in sort of gives u time to step back an set your stance not even looking like pearling so perfect again . My second wave I took off dropped into a nice bottom turn then top turn top cut back and rode it all the way through . Firstly this board is all performance it's smooth but yet changes direction like your riding a performance mal and I mean that you just turn look and lean a little on the rail and the revolution goes where you want to go with no effort at all . It's a beautiful board it's fast gets on it rail to carve as hard as u want too ive got no doubts that I could surf vertically it's just perfect glides great too . My mate told me today that the wave I caught was the best surfing turns he'd seen me on so far
it's gentle on the knees and body but has so much speed and performance I don't know how Casey did it but thankyou and you nailed it . And light as a feather
