Hi beerdead, first of all I am not affiliated with Sunjam so can offer an unbiased opinion.
I went to see the Owner of Sunjam (Mark) to check out his range of boards in Kurnell near Sydney. Super nice guy who is very knowledgeable about the subject. I ended up buying a 12'6" racing board although I did check out his range of surf SUPs as well. I couldn't be happier with the construction and performance of my board. The best thing is you can demo first straight across the road.
I also know Adrian who runs a South Coast SUP business and he uses Sunjam boards as well. He is also impressed with their quality and performance.
Mark designs his own boards and then produces them off shore (in China I believe). He knows what works and is involved in all facets of the process. He is currently in the process of bringing in a carbon range as well.
I'd say check out the website and then drop in and see him. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Gav
Have you tried your 12'6 in a downwind yet and if so how does it go?
