Anyone have any idea what this board is? It looks like an Ace but with the side walls gone and the pin tail squared off. Puzzling where this came from. Maybe it's a prototype. It's in 2013 brushed carbon colors however.

2012/2013 12'6" Allstar protoType perhaps?

My guess is a 2013 12'6"x25" AllStar (production model) with the raised edges chopped off.
The 12'6"x25" was a completely different shape to the wider 12'6" AllStar's and all the 14' AllStars from the same year, and that board look identical to the one I had except the rails are missing.
I'm guessing not a prototype because if you look closely, the venturi holes are still there and surely you wouldn't cut them out to drain the deck if the raised rails weren't there in the first place? Also looks like he's kept an inch or two of the front of the rail for strength where the height of the deck suddenly reduces - and if you look closely, the red paint on the inside of the right rail is a bit shabby and looks like some work has been done, and the glass/paint job on the lowered rails looks a bit different to the rest of the board.

Kieranr and Ali Cat, I think you're right that the board is some kind of All Star. Good eye in spotting the drain holes Ali Cat - makes sense that it's likely a modified production All Star.

I forgot how big the nose was on some models of the 2013 All Star. It looks like a totally different board compared to my 2013 All Star in the 14x25 size.

Ali Cat, how do/did you like the 2013 12'6"x25 All Star? It seems Starboard was trying to create a hybrid of the Ace and All Star with the big nose of the Ace and the squared off tail of the All Star but with a lot of thickness in the tail like the Ace.

It was a great Allround board, easy to pick up bumps downwind or catching waves and the wider tail gave it good stability in and out of the surf. The deck took me a little bit to get used to (coming off a 2012 BOP) as when you move back to the tail, you almost feel like you're stepping up at the same time but after getting used to the board I didn't notice this anymore.

Overall, I found it performed very well in most conditions, but although I love downwinding on my 14' Ace, my personal preference for a 12'6" is a flat deck that feels more like a surf board, so although I liked the board, I never really loved it...

So I replaced it with a 2014 Turtle Bay which suited me perfectly when many others prefer the lower deck of the Allstar
