Ian from Auswind kindly sent a couple of demos over our way for a 14' speed test we have planned shortly. I took a couple of snaps of the sexy Ace Pro. Video to follow.










And here's how it compares with the Fanatic Flat Water 14' and the Starboard Pierce Touring 14'.

Which end is the front?

Easier to work out which end is the front than which way is up. One of the guys at RPS suggested they'd put the deck pad on the wrong side.

Before I read your comments, I was thinking along the lines of "two boards in one", kind of like a reversible jacket...A Down Wind Board one way up, and a flat water board the other way up !!

Sadly, we have the fat boy... the 28" version. Probably makes for a fair fight versus the Javelin. The 25" version would possibly be a blood bath.

Starboard website claims 10.53kg. I weighed it wet today and it was 10.8 - 10.9kg. Pretty light for a 14' board. I believe Naish has something obscenely light coming soon. A whole new construction technique. Sub 9kg is the rumour.

The test will most likely include Naish, Bark, JM, Coreban, Hobie, Starboard, Fanatic and one or two other brands.

looks fast, glad im not the only one that wasn't sure which end was which

ptwoody, i've had a paddle on the standard build board. while its fast, i didn't find it really quick as compared to some other boards i been on. i guess the carbon model would be faster

i would have like to have seen some more deck grip down the back for turns etc

a certain company think they have been ripped off with that nose profile

the 25' version is the one i would like to paddle.

about time naish pulled their fingers out in regards to the weight of their boards

Which company thinks they've been ripped off? Surely not Fanatic, it is really very different. Maybe M&M? I haven't seen one of those in the flesh.

I can imagine the standard construction would be unimpressive. I thought the AST Race BOP wide version was fairly average but the carbon skinny version will be a whole different beast.

Regarding the deck grip down back, I find the grip on the carbon board to be surprisingly sticky enough to hold my footing. I imagine the AST surface is not as good.

board looks great. can't wait to give it a try.

It's the FCS mount - the board has one fitted as standard.

Looks like you could stand a bit forward of the handle to dig that nose in? seems you're pushing a bit of water...

If you have time would you please make some comments on the Tourning Pierce. I think you might have the first one. Weight if possible? I am more interested in the 12'6" but hearing about the 14 would be great.

Pierce Touring 14' carbon weighs 12.5 kg with the fin. It's a super stable board and while not quite a rocket ship, it still has decent speed.
