HI All, Sorry to bug you but like some opinions before I take the plunge. (first time visiting forums).
Started SUP 2 years ago. First board was rip curl 10'6. Good starter I thought. I Surfed when I was younger and once I worked the stand up thing out I needed more of a challenge. Moved to the 2012 Naish 9'5 Hokua which I really like. What a difference.
We only have small waves in my neck of the woods although occasionally I get away to bigger stuff but rarely out in over 4 ft. Although I like the Naish I am think I would like to go shorter again. Something shorter and lighter and even looser than this board.
So after some reading and net surfing my head is telling me 9'0 x 30 Converse Carbon Starboard. It is shorter but 1/2" wider. Volume is slightly less but it should be a bit lighter. Basically I am thinking lighter and easier to throw around.
Anyway the only way I will get to ride one is to buy it and get it shipped here. Am I dreaming? Will this board just be very similar and not worth the sizable price tag. Thanks for your time. Coops

Good choice, the carbon is lighter than the standard versions. I would look at that board as my next board, I ride the 9.0 hero, but am now finding its too wide. I have ridden th 8.5 pro starby, surfs nice, but not good for me in chop

How did you go with the 9'0 Starboard Converse in brushed carbon?

Have you decided on this board yet & if so hows it feeling ?

Excited to hear your feelings as this is really a nice crossover SUP for guys that have a surfing background & especially so for those that have a longboard vibe going as the 9'0 Converse is the perfect Longboard to SUP crossover..

Timing was great to get this board. We have had some good surf for us the last few days. When it's on it's on and I have had it out about 8 times already. I absolutely love this board. I thought I might keep both but now most likely not.
I wouldn't say it out performs the Naish but it just suits me better.
For starters I think it is more stable. Easier to ride for no loss of performance. It is super light, a bit shorter and easier to handle just in general. It carves turns that just suit the way I ride I think. I was right at home instantly.The Nash turns great too but just a bit different.
Are the carbon boards worth the money. I would say yes definitely for me. Iam involved in a few sports ,like most people ,and this one is one of the cheapest after you make that initial purchase. I am happy to spend that bit extra for the quality. Well worth it.

Hi Pete, sorry mate just realized that post came from you. As you can see love that board. Coming over in September. Got something for me to ride or should I just bring the converse?

Hi Coops...I have been considering the carbon converse, do you mind telling me what weight you are!

I am 80kgs on the dot. I know this board would handle heavier though. The guy I bought it off was considerably heavier. 100Kgs. I don't know him personally but assume he is very good rider as he said was one of his fav boards.
