Hello!

I'm looking forward to buy Starboard 7'7''x27 PRO in carbon. Found one from 2014 for a very good price and so I'm thinking if it is a good idea to save some extra $$$ and buy "older" model from 2014 instead 2015 or 2016 version which are quite expensive (I can buy 3 boards from 2014 for that money; so it is a quite big difference)? I saw that shape changed a bit from 2014; nose and overall shape etc. Has some of you ridden both?

What is the main difference? Is there some difference in stability? What about takeoff? Or are this only slightly changes that are not worth extra money? What do you think?

Ok, you can just get even more value for money with other brands that do no spend a fortune in marketing. Just sayin'...

I have ridden all of those Starboard 7 7”Pros and can report there is only subtle differences between them,

thought they did evolve and of course it is always hard to gauge but the latter ones always seem to perform a bit better.

My favourite was the 2016 but maybe I just worked out how to ride that one more efficiently?

( I am 83 kg’s on a good day)

The thing is with starboard is the amount of R & D they have done to reach that design point is really quite huge

And also the build quality is about the best available on the market,

Make no mistake new players in the market struggle with the R + D and the build quality of their sups as this is not an easy thing to control remotely from another country.

So you pay a bit more but you are paying for one of the best So I suppose it’s just if you want that or not.
