Can anyone confirm or deny that the Starboard 8 ft 10" Widepoint is having a makeover for 2014.

I had tossed up between the JP 8,8 and Starby 8,10 but decided to wait until Sep/Oct for the new 2014 Starboard but I am now hearing rumours that the 8, 10 is going to be unchanged again for 2014 although the 8,2 and 9, 5 are being changed ??????

any help on this thread or PM would be greatly appreciated

Phil

Ive got the 8-10 Widepoint in Carbon and it friggin rocks. Decent float super easy to throw around. Easy to stand around doing nothing to. All around a great board

Scott I heard its going to be more like the Airborn but BIGGER, thinned out rails and slightly less volume thats why I was so interested in the 8, 10 !!!

Just back from Oahu where i rode the Silver version of the 8, 10 for two weeks, great board but could benefit from a slightly thinner rail for grip and less bounce.

I had a go on the airborn 31.5 wide one and was very surprised how stable it was for the volume ..i'm 85kgs and it was no problem ....i think the flatter decks thinner rails actually make the board 'roll' less ..certainly the pro boards from 2013 were much more stable than 2012 despite being much less volume ..I guess what I am trying to say is if they have thinned out raills and flattened the deck on the 2014 8'2 you might be surprised and find that has enough stability for you even though the volume is less than what you would normally go for ..the 8'10 for example.

Yeah good point Fm1, trouble is its a one board quiver for me and here in Perth we get a fair bit of wind blown chop especially in the summer so that stability is crucial for me andanything under 130 lts is going to be a struggle. Guess i will have to try one when they are launched in Sept.

Just pissed that they have not updated all 3 WP's seems odd to leave the 8.10 out.

Didnt the 8-10 get refreshed in 2013 and the others in 2012? Like they do alternate years, I might be wrong (it has happened before).

In the 2013 brochure they usually put "New Model" or "Updated" next to the write up's but nothing against the 8,10 in this years brochure so I am not sure.
