How true are these weights

Technology:

At my weight 86 odd kg at moment I would of never thought 26 wide I was thinking 28 for all conditions

or is anyone at my weight has the 26 is it I'm fact quite easy and stable or is starboard well out in there calculating

I'm told the 2018 14 x26 is far more stable than the 2017 14 x27

any one back this up?

haven't tried the 2018 boards yet but at your weight the 14 x 26 is a good start.

Those weight wide specs ratio above for 23.5 80kg & 24.5 95kg are for advance pro racer paddler only.

as im told the 26 wide of the 2018 is far more stable that may be the best bet can't imagine going to 25 esp downwind for my 86kg

depends on your skill level, are you beginner or intermediate or advance.
IMO at your weight and you like the allstar board to downwind then I would go for 28 wide but if your skilled up paddler and don't live in the cold condition waters then a 26 wide.

I'm also informed that paddlers at the 100kg mark are on the 2018 26 wide in all conditions
so basing my choice on that it means a 28 wide is just to much board for a lighter 88kg

Basicly I'm told at 88kg the 14x26 2018 is very stable in all conditions vs the 27 wide of 2017

Depends on conditions, 100kg on any 26 wide board would be a handful in open ocean cross chop imo....FYI I'm 75kg have a 22 sunova for flat and a 24.75 falcon in ocean but in cross chop the falcon is a handful, I'd say I have balance at an advanced level so to hear 26 wide great in any conditions for 100kg rider concerns me a little.....

Hi, yes I thought so, I'm 88kg myself but I'm concerned at what I call intermediate which I call myself no matter what board it is or I'm middle of the road if you like.
so the 26 is not that suitable in the real world for my weight is ocean chop and side wind etc am I better to get a 28 in some brand

i thought about last years 27 wide but as I was told the new 26 wide is far more stable hmm got be buggered

I mean if there was a 27 still that should be fine for the adverse conditions at 88kg but now that has been dropped and jut a 26 then 28 and with being told the 26 was more stable I thought great but now I'm not convinced and 28 is for very large units I guess

Best to test both boards 26 & 28 if possible, otherwise take a good guess and good luck.

Anyone got the 2018 allstar 14x26 and if so is the claimed correct when starboard say it's far more stable than the old, 2017 27

28 wide boards at 85 to 88 kg would be joust to much board for my weight regardless of conditions I think 27 wide boards are the winner for my weight in all weather and conditions for a easier ride

reason why I picked on starboard as said they feel the 26 is more stable than the 27

I'm 6'4", 93kg and running a couple of SIC 14 x 27s . Thinking of succumbing to the lure of an Allstar and I'd probably go to the 26. Anything wider would be too much of a hand brake for me in flat conditions methinks. Not so forgiving for dw but the more you do it the more comfy it'll be!

Yep apparently it hold your weight easily in all adverse conditions

Was mentioned also two guys one at 103 kg the other 108 and both on the 26 wide 2018 and I think in most conditions so 88kg the 26 should be right on the money for a all rounder in all conditions, I mean not much choice as next up is 28 and for my weight it would be a barge just far to much board

I've the 2017 14'x27" and around 86kg (depends on what I've eaten ) found it very stable in rough conditions and excellent in dw . But when i measure the board at its wides point it's 26.25"

Stability has some to do with the width although the shape has the most stabilising effects, that and the length.
I have a 28 wide board that is designed for flat water and a 25 board for downwind.
The 28 is so much more unforgiving and takes some one who knows what they are doing to be able to stay on it let alone use it in any sort of chop (Side chop is impossible bigger than 2 inches).
if it has nice hard rails, you will have stability if there are no rails and a very round bottom then you will not have a lot of stability.

I am just over 90kgs and i can race a 24 wide board Fanatic strike, more comfortably than my 28 wide Sunova. Both boards are designed for flat water although the hull shape of the Strike has better inherent stability

I think it's just that the best answer to virtually any "which board should I get?" question is "demo the board and see for yourself". Sometimes the community just gets tired of saying it over and over again.

Just wanted to know why starboard seems to not be represented as one post suggests and if there is any particular reason for that.
