Hey supmaori , looks like ya getting dialed in with speed .how would you compare the speed to the minion ? Do they perform in different conditions .still not tried minion have got one lined up 4 demo when surf cons get better here . After watching Some video reviews speed looks like a awesome board as well as minions .great looking boards . Not seen any down under but will keep eye out .also how does the stability compare . Hey Calbs..very different boards mate..I'd say stability wise the minion 7'8 the speeed are similar but the dome deck makes a bit if difference on the Speeed and the rails sit under the water which is different to the Minion. I don't notice the extra length tho..and it paddles more easily then the Minion (due to being longer). On the Wave the speeed accelerates in and out if turns and imo turns sharper than the minion imo when your over the tail. Biggest adjustment for me personally is getting back as far as I can..im no expert as only had a handful of waves..most in chop but this session was fun. Can't wait til I get her in overhead conditions around the corner ..I'm stoked I have both in the quiver. But as I'm trying to get up to speeed I'm surfing it in all conditions ..the minion is staying dry for awhile

Looked good! Great conditions too - gotta love uncrowded clean waves In your vid you can see one of the boards best features, IMO - the speed you get out of the bottom turn. You just seem to power out of the turn which sets you up for the fun further along the wave.

Agreed CSE...nice to have no crowds..and yeah it feels easy to accelerate out if the bottom turn..the board pretty much does most if the work for you..really looking forward to getting more use to it and start pushing myself. Thanks man

Thanks Lucy..the only advice I can offer was what I read on one if Rick's posts I think ." When you think your far enough back..move back another foot..." I really try and concentrate on getting my foot back, especially in turns . My first surf I did it but totally lost control and was all over the place..then I read a post in stand up forum which suggested to widen your stance more than usual and trust in getting the board over on its rail..engage and let it do its thing..I'm certainly not where i want to be yet...but each surf I learn a little more..it would help if i could get a couple of surfs/days in a row..but not looking good at the moment.

definitely no crowds.......waves here were much the same size yesterday at makorori.......maybe twice that size the day before.......but some twerp had the bright idea of having the secondary schools surf champs at mak the last few days. They were lucky ......clean nice shaped waves at red bus just in front of the mak car park. Which is good for the sport i suppose

Actually, I rarely get back to the stomper.
I place my back foot over the sidebite... at the "bumpdown" in the rail.
Then simply move my foot from rail to rail to turn

The only time I hit the stomper is in a really tight cutback.

Casso keeps his on the stomper a lot, because his board is shorter, so he can control turns and speed without moving much.
My boards are longer and I'm probably shorter, so my front foot is centered, on the back end of the handle.... that way my back foot can comfortably reach the sidebites.

On faster, down the line runs, I stay further forward and get more speed by drawing out a longer rail turn from the middle.
The board doesn't "pump" well from there, so longer turns have to create the speed.

You guys are so sophisticated.......i actually find the PSH 12'6 quite tippy when paddling for a wave

Thanks for that STC...I guess it's all in the feel..I'm still learning to find the sweet spots and trying to unlock the magic..such a nice board tho with unlimited potential..

STC only talks about the style these days.......he should enjoy the speed on bigger days.....and he probably would if he ever came back to giz with his sunova quiver (he tells me he visited in the distant past)
