Hi all. I'm looking for a basic paddleboard package for my wife (I'll also have a play on it occasionally). It will get a bit of use over summer but she won't eb on it every day. As I've failed to find any decent quality brand name boards 2nd hand in my price range I am now looking at the Southern Boards/ SupBargains package, board, paddle, bag etc for $1000.

I know these boards are cheap and mass produced, but seriously, for flatwater cruising and playing around and minimal small wave surfing why would I spend more?

Does anyone own one of these and can comment on the quality/performace and / or have any other suggestions before I commit?

Mate if you have to buy cheap go for a Bic package at least the boards will last and they start at $899. Just track down some one close to you who sells them and check them out. These are way better than buying some thing that might not even last 6 months!!!

OK thanks, I'll check the Bics out. Any reason why you feel these boards won't last?

They are usally made with cheaper foam cheaper Glass they dont hold up very well at all they have poor design and usally no testing at all. I have a shop and sell alot of different type of boards and have seen first hand what these boards look like after a short period of use. At least with the Bic they are super tough and will last.
If its a pop out and under a $1000 then IMO dont bother just wait until a good 2nd hand board come up.
sorry i posted this under Angies name.

Cheap Sups can be like a box of chocolates , put them in the sun and they will melt , Bic and ATX are good value for money boards under a $1000.
