Morning SUPers,

Query for you all - I've got a 2015 Naish Mana in the GS construction. I'm starting to find the white and blue sections of the grip are becoming a little less grippy on the feet...they're a smooth pattern with a very slight ripple, as opposed to the black tail pad area which is diamond patterned and much grippier. Has anyone else had similar experience with grip on these areas after a few months? Any advice on regaining decent traction?

I'd like to try and avoid replacing the deck pad as
A) I hear it's a pain in the ass to do
B) I quite like the look of the board as it is, and assume even if I COULD order a GT version of the deck pad alone (it's all diamond patterned), it'd be prohibitively exxy (I'd consider non-Naish pad but having trouble verifying a decent source of it in Australia), and
C) I don't want to ruin the SUP.

Any suggestions would be more than welcome!!! Have a good weekend!

Cheers

I have found the same happens on most of my boards when I wear my winter booties..... I simply lightlt wax the deck grip with "soft" surf wax Before I head out each time..... Seems to work a treat

I agree .wax is the best and pretty much the only thing you can do without changing the deck pad.

Also, try to wash it with detergent and a brush, to remove the grime/mud/dust that may have accumulated in the pad pores.
I do it also on new pad, some have some factory dust in them...

Thanks Colas - I'll also give that a go then pop some wax on too. Come to think of it, it would be nice to have that surf wax smell again...take me back to my younger days!

I wear reef booties as a rule. (got the same board as you Roscoe)
I recon I can lean the board about 15 degrees further before slipping off than when surfing barefooted.

I had a similar greasy pad issue with my Starboard. Same thing really, the heavily contoured stuff was fine, it was the near smooth pad that was like a skating rink. Ended up replacing most of the greasy pad, which was a pig of job. And then found that simpy drying the pad fully solved the issue. So that would be my suggestion - leave the pad to fully dry and then try it.
