Would like anyones opinion who has brought a SUP Gun (big wave board)
How did you find it for turning on a wave.
Do you regret buying,does it collect dust or get used all the time.
Any recommendations on size to weight.
What size waves will you switch from your regular board to your Gun.

Owned 3 PSH guns. 12er, 10 6 bamboo and a custom 10 wood veneer.
Regret selling the 12er fantastic all round board came in to it's own over head and a half.
10 6 was a bit narrow for me at 105kg but surfed really well sold as well, really fast board.
Got reacquainted with the 10 on Saturday the pulled in nose and tail and narrow width 28 7/8 make it tippy compared to my 9 1 kwad but the thing rips over head high waves.
I find the ability to lay down a proper bottom turn with confidence in waves of consequence the main redeeming feature of the gun style board. They go well in tiny waves too. Their weakness is in fun head high stuff they are just too stiff.

I have just ordered a son of bombora,they are 10'6 by 28.5,
Have your guns been single fins or thruster/quads?
I am a bit worried about it being a bit tippy as i have found the water to be alot more turbulant in bigger waves,i currently have 94mano and a 9' Trigger brothers thruster thats 29" wide and is much more stable than the mano.
I go to gnaraloo every year for boys trip and find it hard to get onto the waves with the usual strong offshore wind in the morning also i have found the shorter boards a bit slow on bigger days and as a consequence i sometime get nailed trying to stay in front of the wave so i am hoping the gun will help with both.
Thanks for your feedback i am 90kg so i am praying the Son of bombora will be okay.

Really like the look of that board. I think with a bit of time on it you will be sweet. Perfect board for tombies no turning there

Get on it as much as possible before you go. Heaps more glide so catching waves will be much better than Mano.

Had all fin combos liking the psh quads at the moment. At gnaraloo I would be happy on anything variety is the spice of life take a few different sets and swap them in and out.

First gun was the 12er love at first sight.

I love my PSH 10'6 xtra wide bamboo ripper,it will pick the tiniest waves to overhead, the bigger and steeper the the drop the better it goes.Being 32" wide it's super stable and quick on flat water also, in my opinion it's an perfect one board quiver

32 inches does not work in solid waves

Have the 10 11 x 32 does not go rail to rail like a real gun which is much narrower. Great fun 2 up with the kids in small waves less fun down south.

Agree Hilly, go as narrow as possible, thin rails as well. The production board manufacturers make that mistake a lot of the time cause they are either catering for the masses or think that thin rails are impossibly unstable. The extra length = better paddle speed and is therefore more stable when paddling. Mine is 9'1", good up to triple overhead but no so good for Bombora type waves at that size - a 10' er would be the go for my weight.

Slightly more rocker, but spread out over a longer distance is also the go particularly for somewhere like Tombies. Less volume the better also - around 105 litres for me as I am 78kg and there isn't a production board gun that I know of that would suit me ATM, although I am not familiar with the 'son of bombora'.

That was the one I had beautiful board but too close to the 10er I had; 10 11 ticks the boxes now for fun and really bumpy days.

So these PSH gunns don't mind a bit of chop ??

just picked up a 12'6; secound hand for a grand, bought it for a freind ,but after paddlind it last nite i dont think i will want to part with it, very stable for a 28' wide, masses of glide, the waves were only 1 -2ft on a little reef break and the board was able to beturned off the tail no worries, yellow in colour nicknamed it the big bannana

The water is really moving around when it is large; that is why you need thin rails to cut through chop, stability and glide from length.

it was a psh 12'6' similar to the naish but they look alittlr more refined in the tail and a lot flatter rockr i was 86 kg but just spent 8 days in bali and came home 6 kg lighter , those bintangs and diet pills the scooter drivers sell really work

Think the existing psh is 12 not 12 6. New one due out late 2011 is 12 6.

The psh 12er is a classic. Anyone got the quad version for sale??

the one i picked up is the quad ill put the tape onit mabe it is only 12er

woops tape measure says 3640 mm that seems to equate to 11ft i ddidnt no they made a 11fter dosnt matter was still a bargain and it shure dose paddle nice,weight is good also

tried it as quad today in 2- 3ft reef break shore did loosen it up a bit , was so mutch fun ,so mutch glide and stability after ridind shorter boards been going shorter and shorter with my boards now im going longere and longer, funny how things change

Gotta love a gun in small stuff you make heaps of sections easily

took three boards down to suppers paradise today, had a mate whos never supped and hadnt surfed for 5 years, jumped on the psh 10' 11' [i think ] and off he frothed caught a few waves did his 50 push ups had a laugh and cured his depression ,got to love suppin , gotto love a psh gun so ststable so mutch glide, would recomend it to any one for a first board ,sure wish i had one for my first board, ran some stretch fcs quad fins today turns very well tracks down the line fast and holds in sucky sections yewwwww rode a few facing backwards giving thanks to the wave gods and noted how clean the water is coming off that pinniest of pin tails, rode the hobie 12' 6' not as surfable as the gun tends to want to nose dive and finished off the day on thw 9'1' kwad with some super fast shoulder high rights belting across the lip, i love gero and i love suppin happy fathers day to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
