Anyone know about the Atlantis SUP, mob at Palm beach say that you should only buy a SUP that has bamboo inlay, i am told that is not right, any one know for sure
paul.j said... Some one who claims that either knows nothing about how sup's can be made or has a lot of boards with timber inlay to sell!! Haha funny as I recon!!
or has a large portfolio in the bambo stock market
I just brought an Atantis Halo and had my 1st paddle today on flat water. I hoping to take it out in the surf tomorrow if time allows. Happy so far but early days. I have surfed for about 20 years but I am new to Sup's with only knowledge I have learnt from talking to other and doing research. I think the Halo have a good shape and bottom contour to them for an allround - there not an elite board in either catergory but what allrounder is? I also am not an elite rider so the board suits well.
Is the Bamboo a must have? No! Is it detrimental to have it? No! Bamboo is hard and has a great weight to strength ratio (look at bamboo flooring over cypress pine). Is there better? Of course! Is there worse? Of course!
As far as the boards goes I think they are good value for money as far as shape goes. Will they last the distance, time will tell, but I feel they are made to a standard they justifies there price tag which suited my budget!
Gumballs - I'll let you know tomorrow if they go left but I do live in NSW!
