as asked here's some pics of my 9'0x32 Mongrel shape Indo Travel / Share board , it's Not a 4 in 1 , NO - Windsurf or Foil fittings.
It's been a fun board , done all I've wanted and more, traveled well, liked by all that try it . A delightful Mongrel of many personalitys.
It has more nose concave, turns well from the middle, agile tail.
Originally setup as Split Twin and center box, later added parallel to centerline boxes for BIG Twins.

so Ben , at your weight n height on a 9'7x32 @156lt on the Todd River, Alice Springs, Centre on Australia . The Funky Mongrel has sighty less volume than this. Hope this helps with your search for THEE next board.

Thank you Bighugg, for the photos, my request for information on this Smik Mongrel was mainly out of curiosity to try to get feedback from owners who use it mainly (see only) for surfing.

This style of shape that some call "Tomo or Stubby" appeals to me because I often see a guy who in Supsurf one and in conditions between 70cm and 1m20 not super clean it seems to be a hyper "versatile" board which seems to go soon enough, to generate a lot of speed while being super handy like a small skateboard, it seems super fun.

So if other owners pass by the area I will be curious to have their feedback !! If they can indicate their height and weight and the volume dimensions of their board that would be great !!

My 2 cents: I would suggest you ask for a rounded (or rounded pin, or bullet, or... ) nose rather than a square nose.

Altough the wide tail is what make these shapes take off so early in weak waves and generate energy, square noses paddles like an anvil. A wide, but rounded/elliptical nose will paddle much faster, adding even more wave catching ability while keeping a nice stability.

Disclaimer: I never rode a SMiK, but I tried the same shapes with a square and with a rounded nose.

I am not a shape specialist but regardless of the "final" shape of the nose, the 1' dimension often remains almost identical so the rocker must also play a fairly (or even the most) important role in the way of paddling and catching. waves !?

In my experience, if the water touches the tip of a square nose, it will have a braking effect.
This braking effect may not be much in absolute value, but it will make your body weight, which is high above the water line, apply a torque pushing the nose into the water even more, braking even more: a vicious circle.

So you see most riders keeping the square nose well above water, losing all the benefits of it (except for the added rail length form trimming along the high line) and just having a dead weight there.

Where a rounded nose will part away the water and avoid entering this braking/torquing loop. The SMiK Hipster twin nose for instance looks like a very efficient design.

For reference, here are the two 6'10" 125L similar Simmons boards I had/tried:
The first one worked so well that it became a production model.
The second one was not worth the trouble.

How are the guys at priority surf? I've rented sups from them each time I go over

There's a lot of short Mac DNA in the mongrel ,a very underrated model ,love my 8,5 it a fully used rock hopper still going very well ! So much so I sold it and bought it back

Fatben,my board is a short Mac it's on the Smik web site,they are an old model, my point was there are similarities mongrel / short Mac,mines 8.5x29x115 liters I'm 70 yo 75 kg ,IMO the mongrel with the flyer looks more stable and very surfable

If everything is possible Scotty we will have to discuss....
But given my Style Lord and my Hypster Twin I have no doubts about the possibility.

Ok Justaddwater you have the short mac model.

I don't think the Mongrel is an underrated model, I just think that the fact that the board is presented as a 3 in 1 board might deter people who have a 100% Sup practice thinking that the board will be good in all 3 practical but excellent nowhere.

This is where the possibility of customizing Smik and therefore having a 100% Sup Mongrel made would seem like a great idea to me....
