Can anyone comment on the performance difference between the 8' and the 8'3"?
40 years prone surfing short boards, 18 months supping (back issues) I want as much performance as I can get but at this stage still need stability. 50yrs 75kg.
Current short boards is 8' x 29.25' 115 L Vex Pro, while performance is good I struggle with stability in anything less than perfect conditions.
Thanks
You'll find the outline on the hipsters is great for stability. They have a fair bit of volume/width in the nose so the tail tends to sink a fair bit but the nose offers alot of stability. I stand with one foot slightly forward of the handle to try even it out if need be. The vex are quite pulled in on the front from what I've seen so will make it less stable.
The 8 foot will be plenty stable for 75kg. Like I say in my previous post I'm around 93kg and the 7'10x29.5 stability was not an issue as all. The tail sank a fair bit under water. But like I say the hipsters are nose heavy so sit quite comfortably in the water and fairly easy to get going for a wave.
What sort of waves are you surfing? The hipsters are bloody fast so hang onto your hat.
