A few quick pre paddle image of the new Atlantis from SIC. At first glance she looks a little like a dugout RS but when you take a closer look it has a reasonable amount more overall rocker. Very smooth so it's hard to notice but it's there. I'll try to get out on it in the next few days to try first hand for some more feedback. In the pics are the 22" and 24" versions. Haven't unwrapped the 26" yet. Sam

After 10 days off and being able to play on the new Atlantis in the waves and ocean all I can say is WOW! What a fantastic stable board. Have done 1 DW on it and I figure once I learn where the sweet spot is it is going to be a great board. Its a great all rounder but I will stick to the RS in the flat. They look very similar but feel very different.

Im thinking of getting the same exactly board, 14x24.

I already own an MK1 (2019) RS 14X26, and i would like to have your experience on this board.

We dont get heavy DW, nor ocean conditions, i will be riding this board mainly in choppy, upwind / downwind with 11 kts of wind, and flat conditions.

I was wondering how happy are you with this board in flat and mild conditions UW/DW compared to an RS, if you have ever tried one.

Im in a dilemma of getting the Atlantis 14X24" or the 2021 RS 14X23".

Im surprised that despite being out in the market for nearly 2 years, i cant find any reviews or feedback on this board.

Bump. Almost nothing out there online review wise for the Atlantis. I have heard good things from one paddler but looking for more reviews.

Hi, as I own a MK1 SIC RS 14x26 (which I will sell within the next months), and having bought a SIC Atlantis 14x24 recently, I would like to give you my two cents. Basically both the MK2 RS as well as the Atlantis are a more "specialised" version of the original MK1 RS in my point of view.
The MK2 RS will be faster in flatwater & mild chop, but is partly giving up its downwind abilities (less rocker) for this. On the other hand, the Atlantis will shine in rough water, upwind/downwind, with having much more focus on speed and stability than the "classic" downwind boards Bullet&Bayonet.
The 14x24 Atlantis has got similar secondary stability than the MK1 14x26 RS, but is way more faster upwind/downwind and even on flat water! But as you mentioned you will mostly paddle on flat water / mild chop, the 14x23 RS may suit you better. In case you won't have any focus on downwinding, but more on the perfect glide, I would even recommend to skip the RS as well and to buy a full displacement race board (instead of a hybrid such as the RS and Atlantis). On the other hand, If you want to go upwind/downwind on moderate inland conditions (similar to mine with 10 to 20knots and smaller swell / medium chop) then the 14x24 Atlantis is great. If you need more details just let me know.

A guy I see paddling sometimes has always had SIC RS boards. He just bought the Atlantis in 24.
He basically said what others have said. A better allround board. Very stable. More oriented towards downwind rough conditions. You give up a bit of flatwater speed for better allround qualities. He hadn't had it out in really rough conditions so wasn't sure about how well it drained or it handled downwind.
He had the RS in 23 before and used to race. He dosnt race anymore and wanted a more comfortable board. Conditions change very quickly here and as I said he wanted a better allround board.
Its dugout but not full on like my flatwater board.
He left before me but there was no way I was catching him on my flatwater board. It was a calm day. So its the paddler that makes a bigger difference than the board!

Can't wait to try my new Atlantis 14'0 x 24"

The covid bug got me right after receiving the board, so it's still sleeping inside the box, but in a few days I can finally try it.

I have an RS 14'0 x 23" (version 2) and this year I will ride the Atlantis in ocean conditions and the XRS 14'0 x 22" in flatwater. The RS and the Atlantis are two all-water boards with very similiar outlines but the Atlantis I think will shine in the ocean, choppy and downwind (but still good in flatwater), while the RS is a great flatwater board and good for the ocean. Of course, the messier it gets, the better for the Atlantis, as well as the calmer it gets, the better for the RS.

But my plan is to sell the RS, since XRS and the Atlantis will cover my needs.

I used to do a lot of downwinds (I had a Bullet 12'6, then a 14'0 and a 17'4), as well as racing. We are going to have a few events under the surfing federations (like in previous years) and a few of them just next to my house. But this year the Canoe federation will run a lot of events (ocean races and flatwater races) and there's a chance that the Surfski World Championship in Viana might include SUP as well. So the Atlantis, might revive my passion for open ocean paddling. The last few years, I only grabbed a race board a few times; lots of work during the Summer and foiling and wingfoiling whenever I had the chance.

Can anyone comment on the water drainage from the single venturi drain? Does it work as quickly as the more common 4 side drain hole designs?

In my opinion, it does, as long as you keep on gliding (which will "suck" the water out of the dugout area).

About 3 years ago I had one of my boards equipped with drain hole down the handle (sup grip handle) and it wasn't nearly as refined as the one on the Atlantis. It was very effective and better than another board I had with the standard drain holes.

That said, I don't think you can generalize this statement. I've seen some really great 4 drain holes implementations and some really bad ones, last year's SpeedBoard comes to mind, the board really didn't drain well.
