Hello all! I'm looking for thoughts on whether the 2016 boards with MSL construction are worth $300-$400 more than a closeout 2015 model. I'd like to hear from people who have used both the MSL and the previous double-layer boards. Thanks!

Weight is the biggest difference for 2016, probably a little stiffer and more solid too.

There were some batches with glue issues in 2015 but they are/were replaced under warrantee.

I’d say it’s really up to you. If a few 100 to save some weight isn’t going to hurt you then do that. Else if a deal is more important the old version will float you too.

2016 is far lighter and better contruction but both well constructed.

I'd like to know if on 2016 boards there are different fins. I was looking for a 10.8 and searching on Italian website it looks like in new boards they leaved Ifin system for traditional fins to add on boards.
Is it same in international market? (i can't find same difference on international websites)
If anyone can confirm changing fin system i'd like to know what's better.
I use inflatable boards especially on sailing boats during vacations with my family and i always like fins as seen on previous redpaddle models (no need to change and easy using)

I'm not totally sure what you mean, but some of the Red boards have the three permanent fins. The Ride models, for example, and maybe some of the Explorers?? The Sports and Races have removable single fins, but apparently they are an odd size, so there aren't many replacements available.

RedPaddle boards with removable fin have a standard US fin box. So put any aftermarket fin you like.

Julian at greenwatersports told me that the fin box is a smaller size, so there aren't many aftermarket fins to choose from. Do you agree?

First of all sorry for my english...i know i could be easily misunderstood.:)
I know some kind of boards have permanent fins and other have (or better have always beìen til now) removable fins but what i mean is that (at least on italian website of redpalle distributor) in 2016 i see all around boards like 10.8, with removable fins when they have always been sold with permanent fins in all previous years. I can't really find boards with permanent fins (always called as Ifin system) in new colection so i'd like to know if it's the same out of EU and if new system of removable fins it's easy to use and is provided with good and durable fins.

The Red Paddle 10.8 windsurf has a removable fin.
The normal 10.8 comes with an iFin set up.

If you inflate/deflate your board often, I would avoid the ifin / fixed fins like the plague on any brand, except for whitewater river use.
They bend when the board is rolled, and straightening them before each session gets old fast.

Do yourself a favor and get a inflatable board with only US boxes, and a FCS screwless fin, either the old system:

Some FCS models are quite cheap and sufficient for an inflatable, e.g: US$27 for a 9":

I agree the 2016 models are lighter and faster but it really depends on what you prefer.
I can noticeably feel the difference, I bought the 2016 12'6 race by Red Paddle

Yesterday i went to Malcesine on Lake Garda in Italy were i could test redpaddle boards.
I tested 10.8 ride, 10.6 and 11 and decided tu buy 10.8....yes with permanent fins despite good tips from Colas....
I agree it's a better and more durable solution choosing removable fins but i mainly use inflatable board on a sailing boat during a couple of weeks vacation and i usually keep it inflated on the boat. I also have two children and a couple of years ago were able to break a fin from an inflatable bic board...just the time to let them alone for a second!

The dealer had both 2015 and 2016 models but i decided to buy old one (anyway brand new not used) not only for deal (about 25% less) but also because of the lighter weight (really impressive when u move it out of water) i'm not so sure it would be so durable in years and also if it could be so good with my "not so light" weight (about 93 kg). Yes lighter and faster but i'm sure i never do races with it

P.S.
If someone will plan a trip to Europe and/or Italy let me suggest to go to Garda Lake....it's a paradise for sailing and water sports. I live just 2 hours driving from there, i well know the place but never went before!
Sorrounded by mountains and so often windy, easy to rent everywere boats, catamarans, windsurf etc and a really nice place to see.
Next famous events within many other....foiling week on july and The Centomiglia (a Hundred Miles…), the longest inside-waters contest at the highest European level on september.
