Hi guys
I tried finding a thread on this that casso wrote in his review, but couldn't find it.
Getting a carbon covered Xmas present this year, but not sure on the blade sizing.
What are breezers thoughts on the 90, 100 and 110 sq inch kahanas? I'm 6'3 keen to do racing and surf. Leaning towards 100...... Any reason to go 110?
Cheers gooch

Jason at West oz paddlesports has them 0411 510 514.

If it is just for surf get the 8 inch slimline.

Thanks hilly, I've ordered a 100 or 8'7 wide.
Lacey do you feel the 8'7 is too small? Is there a big difference with the 9 inch (the dimpled one?).
Cheers

There is a pretty quick paddler in Melbs that most of us know about. He has a very good engine, big veins down his arms, and he wins races with a Kialoa Pipes. They are about 85 square inches... Look them up... I might be wrong. But they are smallish. Which leads me to believe that the engine is most important...

I am not trying to make you switch brands, just giving feedback on blade size.

I paddle a Methane a fair bit, and it seems to be a little bigger than the early models. I have an ultra light paddle in a different brand, which is lighter than a quickblade elite. It has a blade size of roughly just over 100, definitely bigger than the methane anyway. After plenty of testing, same speed / times.

Just checked... Pipes is 87, and methane is 97.

i've tried a 110 magic, it felt very good and each stroke was good value. however in a race or competitive training, in a fatigued state, i think it might be too much paddle to get a recovery going.i would love to have both the 100 and 110 magics to play with.

i'm going to get the magic 100. i know there has been some 'who har' about them, but i felt i had to do less work correcting the blade during the stroke. actually i borrowed jm's 110 magic for a try at the demo. he said felt the same thing with the stokes compared to the normal blade face even before i mentioned my humble opinion.
cheers

Hey Goochi, here you go-

These are the Specs from the Quickblade website.

Quickblade KANAHA Carbon 9" x 18" 110 square inches.
Quickblade KANAHA Carbon 8.7 x 17" 100 square inches. 19oz 540g
Quickblade KANAHA Carbon 8.3 x 16" 90 square inches.
Quickblade KANAHA Carbon SLIM 8.2 x 18" 100 square inches. 19oz 540g

Quickblade KANAHA FG blade 8.7 x 17" 100 square inches. 20oz 570g

Quickblade RACE ELITE 8.7 x 17" 100 square inches. 16oz 450g

Generally the 110 (9") is too big a blade for most people.
To get the most out of the Magic, dimple faced Elite it is best to go down a size from what you would normally use.
