Hi, I need a new set of quad fins...I have had the imon Anderson quads and was happy with them, but just wondering if anyone has any recommendations which might be better...To fit PSH 9 11 Ripper...Thanks in advance.

I use the Gerry Lopez Quad set in my 9'5" Widepoint. They're good.

I use the Pancho Thruster fins in the front and the controller rears in the back.

Good drivey feel but you can still pivot easily.

Or you can buy the PSH quad set which is the same fins with a PSH logo on them.

I use Rainbow Fins Speedwings in the front and the Controller rears in the back. Like the speedwings alot - using them on my SB and SUPs

Depends on your style of surfing, if you like to tail slide go smaller maybe shapers quadie and if you like to carve with better drive go bigger maybe Jerry Lopez quad

Try to remember in fins that a more upright fins as in straight up and down is going to give you more pivot and a fin that is horizontal as in left to right will give you more carving. Plus hit up your buddies and mates to see if they have got and spare fins to lend you. Even if it is only the rears or the front ones. It is at least a start and just make a note of what you used, a rating out of 10 and the conditions you used them in. IF you do that you will get the pair you want in no time.

Most shops will only sell fins in sets!
I have found the H2 fins work really well in all my boards (9'6' Mctavish SUP, Shortboard and Longboards) they really liven up the SUP for surfing!

Depends on manufacturer, we sell futures and they will pretty much ship individual fins for any set. Get your fin supplier to phone Antman at futures and check, but we regulary supply individual fins due to damage or loss

I second the GL Quads if you are over 200 lbs. I have them in my 8'10' Widepoint. Now that I have finally figured out how to surf with them they give me a nice combination of grip and drive on a fat short & wide board. Yes, FCS does make them.

Lowers, I love using size 5's allround when I had my 10ft McT quad and they went awesome. I used Kelly's originally until I sold the board but have bought heaps of fins from www.wetfins.com.au/ and they rock!! I went with shapers and scarfini from them and both good value for money, and I now have them on all my boards. I really think you need at least 5's if you are over 100kg IMO, as when I have had three's they spin out a bit, I am a heavy backfoot surfer though (longboarder lol). A lot of guys mix and match sizes front and back. experiment with a few fins of your other boards if you can. Good Luck!

Hey Lowers,

Todds is right, Futures sell individual fins, if your local store won't an individual fin, then find a better store. They are available in singles from both FCS and Futures.

It's more profitable and easier for stores to only stock and sell sets. As a surfer and being forced to buy sets in the past when I have broken one only, I decided we would always supply single fins to customers. I have a few back fins in FCS coz they never break, it's always a side.

If you buy a top set of fins for 150-180, you don't want to have to purchase the lot again on the account of one fin. They aren't 1/3rd of the price, but still way cheaper than a full set.

Can't speak highly enough of the Futures service, usually a next day delivery if we order before lunch. From Goldie to Perth in 24hrs? Outstanding!

It does depend on the fin set. I know Futures do not carry spares for every single fin set ie: PSH Futures Quads. So check with your dealer.

I have discovered the scarfini fins, very fun and fast fins. I Use the HX3 for my 95kg in quads http://www.scarfinifins.co.za/index.php?page=allfins.php&category=1 that give me the most speed for conditions I feel confortable with where I want the more speed and power out of my fins. I feel they make the board more lively than the other FCS fins I have.

For gnarly conditions where I want maximum control, drive and grip, I am addicted to C-Drives however (but they are not available for Futures bixes)

I agree,i had the psh quads on my 9-2 psh,and found them too stiff. Put them on my 9-11 psh and it projects like stink now. I have put SA quads on the 9-2 and its much better,but i still like the thruster set up over the quads.Its really a matter of personal preference isnt it?

FCS PC-7 quad set are exceptional. The Lopez equivalent are just too big and stiff.

Not if you are 105kg love GL's in my 9 2 and PSH's in my 10er

Just got news that the PSH Futures quads will be back in stock early May

My PSH 9'6 ripper is going great with the MRTX on the front and fcs H2 large on the rear. Feels really well balanced compared to my previous set up which was mickey mouse plastics on the front and shapers SV2 on the rear.
Has now got heaps more fin area & feels much more dependable in frisky wave situations :)

They look enormous in that pic....this one probably gives a better perspective

i think those mr are pretty ginormous actually. I found them almost boringly stable (but that can be advantageous in big surf)

Are quad fins more likley to snap off than thruster set ups?
