Hi,

I have this issue with my paddle. It's about 8 months old and I've used it a bit of course but only 15 times I reckon and the blade is splitting. I've been told that it isn't covered under warranty as it looks like it has happened as 'wear & tear'. I've used it for it's intended purpose and only that - paddling, and therefore it should be covered by it's warranty.
Any thoughts?

Have you contacted the company yet? Unless you've been banging it on rocks, that looks like something that should be covered.

Warranties cover craftsmanship and workmanship.
If the 2 layers of the blade came apart, due to poor lamination it would be a warranty.

A lot of brands, add ABS into this section, to reduce this from happening.

For 15 sessions, that blade edge seems to shows some serious wear.

Glue and clamp the bugger up and get out there.

KeNalu did a blade replacement for me with similar damage to yours

it may show wear and tear…but under warranty conditions it needs to perform for the purposes it was made…you can use a paddle for 364 days of the year, everyday for hours and hours and if on that day the product fails due to a manufacturing issue…. it is a warranty. Looks like a de-lamination issue and nothing else. Weasel words by a manufacturer to avoid honouring a warranty is what I read.

Exactly!

ABS is Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene.
Its a plastic that is rubbery yet solid and has a high impact resistance.
Something that may have helped prevent the excessive wear of this paddle.
