I have noticed there are a lot of threads on people asking for advice on which board to get, so I hope this isn't too tedious for you guys.

I recently got the sup bug and amwanting to get a board mainly for cruising - we have some great protected bays on Phillip Island and maybe some small waves when I get more confident. I'm 5'7 and 62kg. I have pretty good balance and core strength.

I made a massive mistake and ordered this board - allsportsonline.com.au/collections/surfboards-paddle-board/products/honu-98-paddle-board-1. But I haven't heard a thing from the company and I have a feeling that I won't, I'm not too stressed as I use Paypal thank god. Anyway I will be glad if it doesn't come as after ordering it I saw a few threads on here about this exact board from other online sellers being quite frankly '****'.

So if it doesn't come I will be ordering from somewhere else. I don't really want to go over $1,300.00 for the whole lot including postage.

I was wondering if anyone has experience with the following boards.

I would also really appreciate any recommendations or advice. I don't get off the rock very much and hate driving to melbourne so anything I can order online would be sweet. Also I have really girly arms so one thats not too heavy would also be a bonus

You should take a drive to Melbourne and see Warwick at RPS in Elwood.. I think he stocks those boards and might even have a demo for you to try.. While you're here check out SHQ and the Zu.. The guys in those shops should also be able to offer good advise.. and they may even have quallity brands ex demo boards going cheap.. Maybe even join me for a paddle around St Kilda while you're here..

I guess I will have to suck it up a drive to Melbourne. I dent look to hard to get from Chadstone to Elwood so maybe I will go have a look today. Its a shame their website is set up better - I can't even fid the hours on it.

pop in and see Scott at Islantis , he has some demo boards there - he has 2014 mana 10 for demo/hire, he might be able to pick you up something cheaper non-naish

Naish odysseus might get close to the price

Alyse another point you may want to consider is the weight of the board,after a few hours of paddling some times it requires a bit of effort to get it up onto the roof racks.Btw i have a nalu 10.65 which will more than suit your needs but imo you could easily go smaller.

I didn't even think of Islantis , I went to 'Island' and the cheapest board was $1559.00 not including a paddle (they were $350.00) so I kind of wrote off local shops being reasonable. They are just round the corner, I will have to pop in and have a look.

Thanks for the info Bolero, my arms are kind of pathetic so I'm defiantly keeping an eye on the weight factor! Lucky i have a somewhat low car so the board dent have to go to far off the ground.

Another way to go is work out what you think you need by trying a couple and buy a second hand "name" brand on this site , people tend to change boards over as they go smaller , and a few nicks and scratches aren't going to worry you

I reckon you could do a lot worse than nab something like this from the Breeze buy and sell:

It's a good quality brand, decent size for you (though there might be better, specialised cruisers purely for the flatwater), and will be good in the waves.
Maybe get the paddle too, and have a shop cut it down for you.
If you sell in six months or a year to move to something else, you really won't lose much (if anything) on the resale.
Just my opinion of course, and I'm looking at it from a budget buy, close-ish to home (for you) perspective -- i'm sure there are plenty of other worthy options.
