Hoping for some advice.
Currently have a 11ft Nalu that's feels a bit too big and wide for me.
6 ft tall & 90kgs. Supping for about 3 years. Current boards are 11ft nalu, 9'2 evoke & 8'10 sunova flow.

looking for a long board with maximum glide for fun on small full days and handle a bit more size when the tide is full.
Dont want to go too narrow as looking for fun.

Boards I am looking at are
Nalu 10'6 ( have surfed a friends and found it great. Can't find any 2016 Gtw and the 2017 are $$$$$
sunova style 10'6 not the XL version
Smik style lord 10 x30
Deep custom
JP longboard 10'6. Don't know much about this board but there seems to be lots around at ok $$

any feedback on the above would be great

Are u after a traditional nose rider or performance longboard?

Probably a bit of both. Leaning slightly more to a nose rider.
The only board of the above that I have ridden is the 10'6 nalu. Found it easy and fun. Liked it

dont want to go too low on the volume front. Was thinking of keeping it over 140 litres. That would rule out fanatic style master.
Can anyone compare the 10'6 style or style lord to the 10'6 nalu?

At your weight 130-140L would be more than adequate. I ride 130-140L and i'm nearly 20kg heavier...

The difference between a 11' and 10'6 Nalu isn't very much... If that was your preference - i wouldn't bother. Not worth the $$ outlay.

The 10'6 style has really nice rails and a big tail flip. Fantastic noserider. At 90kg the 10' would be easy to stand on and a better choice...and what I would pick.

The 10'2 Deep Dogman looks sweet. (but haven't seen one in the flesh yet).

Smik could always do a custom for you...

From what I've been told the JP 10 6 is more of an allrounder compared to it 10 x 29 equivalent which has more tail and nose rocker. My friend has a 10 x 29 Style and loves it....looking for a shot at some point. I like the Nalu too but reckon they are a wee bit on the volumous side.

There will definitely be a trend moving forward for narrower 10 footers that's for sure. Have a look at the Infinity New Deal and NSP. The New Deal looks amazing and early reports are that it rides like a regular 10 ft longboard so sounds good to me

I have found my happy place, so please...disregard anything I have to say.

I have owned and ridden both the 10'6 Alana (Nalu) and the 10' Style.
Comparing the Nalu to the Style is easy. They are totally different.
One video from each to help you decide which style of riding appeals to you.

I absolutely love the smooth yet snappy performance in all size surf.
It is a great board and timeless design, that IMO, is more of a performance board than a noserider.
Any quiver will have room for this classic!



The 10' x 29 Sunova Style (never ridden the 10'6)
If you want noseriding.... the Style the board! It is simply the best noserider I have ever ridden.
I camp on the nose and drive the board from there... no need to scurry back and forth.

Honestly, I have so much fun on the nose, that I have never given it a "performance" workout.
It arrived just before winter wetsuit weather, so I have only had a few sessions on it (At 106 kg, it is a summer board only for me)
Summers coming, so I hope to run it from the tail a bit and discover what kind of performance it has.


At your weight, the 10'6 Style would glide into anything with ease.

Sunova style is looking like a winner

spoke to the sunova dealer today who was encouraging me to look at the 10'6 sunova surf as an option
10'6, 30 wide, 155 litres.
The pice was great in the Eco wood finish

does anyone have any experience with his board?
the specs seem pretty good

I had a custom Sunova made, based off a 10'6 SURF.

Mine is 10'4 x 28.5 x 140L. We also changed the rocker (more high performance) and rails (hard edge).

I can certainly noseride it, but to me it's more of a performance longboard.

If your style is more trad - go the style
If your style is more shortboard like - go the surf

The Sunova Surf is their version of the Naish Nalu 10 6.....

i have the 10'6 style (non XL version) Im 95kgs. floats me fine- but really needs a bit of a wave. its not as much of a 'glider' as you would think. just too much rocker. I have found it surfs great from the front..but the nose is VERY thin and for my weight i have found the rails too sharp in the back coupled with not much volume in the nose to really get up to the very front and stay there. but on the front 3rd of the board- yes - rides excellent.

Knowing what i know now- I would have gone with the 10ft if i stayed with the Style- the 10'6 doesnt really offer much more glide for the addl. length an beyond that- since i surf only beach break and this was for micro days kind of wish I had more volume or even a more square tailed board to just get in as early as possible on knee high waves and glide down the line. This works but it is a performance longboard that 'can' noseride. not a noserider and not an allrounder.

that said- i had it on a very high angle well here in NJ with Very long and oddly slow walls (for here) and it was a dream. i have to imagine it would be legend at a point break...just wish a had a proper one to work it on..

I have the previous white ECO version 10'6 Surf, as Hoppo said, it is more performance oriented than the Style.
Terrific longboard SUP!

Regarding the Wood ECO build, I have a 9'5 "The ONE" in that construction and am super happy with it.
I surfed that board more than any other all winter, in some pretty solid waves and it hasn't got a mark on it. Very good quality.

I'm 5'10 90kg, love my 10 x 29 Sunova Style, I never surfed a long board and went straight from short boards to SUP but am loving the ability to walk/trim the board.
Apart from a few little demos I have not surfed other 10'ers but am more than happy with the nose riding capability of the Style and it goes a lot better than I expected performance wise as well.

Not that I am going to but if I was to get another 10' SUP I would go narrower, thinner more longboard/log style.

Got a Smik Custom 10' x 29" about 148 liters and it rips.
Supper good construction and light
wouldn't look past this board as it catches everything you go for.
Get a demo you wont be disappointed.

YOB Sandman 10' x 29" 130L is worth considering too and they aren't expensive either.
I see a demo one now in the buy and sell. I'd be keen if it were the smaller 9'6"x28.5x117L one.

It's 158L. You can always go custom and get exactly what u want. Bert and the guys are very easy to deal with.

The website volume is a type-o.

Over in the U.K. The Sunova and GTW are roughly the same in cost ...maybe the Naish is a bit pricier. I think the Sunova will probably be a bit lighter...not much in it really.
