Yeah...trying it today like that but have a nice 7 inch fin spare so that might go in.

Great boards, 1 of the best allround boards out there, I had an 8'11" striker, think it had an 8" fin, but I only ran it as a single fin, just moved onto a Black & Blue

Yup, going to try it in few ways.....going for a 7 inch centre fin and sidebites and then a 5 inch centre with the sides. Will do single fin too probably. I have all these fins spare so like to mix it up and find what suits.

How are you getting on with your Striker, Slab?

I don't leave for the beach without mine in the van. 9'5" Striker is becoming my favorite "do-it-all" especially in marginal Springtime onshore conditions. Such a versatile big board....surfs smaller than it's size, turns great off the tail and (while not a burner) is deceptively fast and very smooth down the line. And nose rides easier than any SUP I've ever been on.

Re: fins...mine came with a 7" center and two sides. I'm opting for a larger 8" Dolphin fin that stays in the water when I'm on the upper 1/3rd of the board. Might not matter much due to the low nose rocker, the smaller fin would probably work just as well and loosen up the board a bit more.

I'm even getting into doing flat water distance paddles on my Striker.

I've only had it out once and the conditions were pretty rubbish so I didnt really get it going at all. Paddles well, certainly feels like it gets waves easy but I wanted to loosen it up a bit....it came with an eight inch centre and two sides. Trying a smaller 7 inch fin next. I hope to get some surf soon so that I can properly get a chance to see it shine. I buried the nose once though...need to get used to the lower rocker lol! Im sure it must go rail to rail fast as on a close out I banked hard and it shot round quicker than expected.....I remember thinking "holy sh£t".??

I have the 8/11 for some years and sup occasionally if light wind.

If you get on the tail in a critical section of the wave, you are on a ball bearing. Quite nice.

Fully covered deck w. black diamond pad. It all holds up very well.

I would prefer a lighter construction, but quite solid and beautiful.

Board is stable for my 80 kg and lack of any particular talent or surfing experience.

Walking up to the nose requires no skill whatsoever.

Is the JL striker the best longboard all rounder that is good at nose riding?

How does it compare to the Fanatic style master?

Never tried the Stylemaster but it looks a really nice shape and lower volume with a reduced width tail. i find my Striker is lots of fun in cleaner better surf. I wouldn't say either is better...they will be diff boards.
