Well I did it, after much angst. procrastination and indecision I finally made the call and bought a Jimmy Lewis 23 inch 14ft Sidewinder which was too good a bargain to pass up.
I have probably overextended myself regarding the board (like putting a learner in a Ferrari) however I am generally known for not making wise decisions.

Awesome board. only 9 kg, well made and looks cool. Its was all done with Rob by texting ,so bought Saturday night, in Melbourne Tuesday picked up Wednesday. Good service. Although Rob did text me at 05:52 on Sunday morning to see how things were going, obviously on his way to a surf.
I had a urgent important meeting that suddenly came up on Thursday morning so I could not get into the office. Funnily enough it was very close to a flat water lake . I had my client in attendance

After we discussed the important business with Skip, I took the board out which strangely enough was on top of my car.

It seems the cat loaded it on the car without my knowledge
I was hoping it was a bit more stable than it looked it would be and hopes were dashed as it was very tippy when I hopped on.
However I did not fall off , I did the first run out to the end of the lake and was impressed with the speed and ease of paddle. The tracking was straight and i rarely had to change sides. It was very wobbly but that was most likely my technique , still did not fall off. Turning was a Oh S*&t experience but still got around. I complete the run back and was still dry.
I got cocky the next one and tried surf stance which ended up to be swimming stance. Managed to clamber back up and start again .
All in all I like it but I need a hell of a lot more time and work on it to be confident in some chop. So more flat stuff for me until I get to know it.
There is a you tube about secondary stability which is where it feels Ike its going to tip but probably wont. I think thats the thing I need to train the brain and bod on so I am more comfortable with it
Cheers
