Yes DJ - it is the single fin. Used to have a fantastic Rainbow MD3 10 inch fin in my longboard which would have been ideal (but sold) as it had large base for hold but narrowed tip for turning.

trueames.wordpress.com/2010/03/12/george-greenough-fins-by-true-ames/ are really the most versatile single fins I have had. Really shine on somewhat shorter boards (killer as a single fin setup on my 7'7" wing/sting), or fast waves.
On long SUPs, however, I find the "finger" fins (like the 4C) also good as they make the board much quicker to turn around while paddling.
For noserides however, nothing beats a big hatchet or D fin.
