Was wondering what the wear and tear is like on the new Nash range. I had a mana 9'5 2011 when I first started out. If I hit rails it chipped easily and went from the yellow exterior to white undercoat and lessened value when reselling. I don't hit rails much at all now I'm more skilful but iv always stick with white boards like the LSD and Simon Anderson range. I like the look of the Nash 8'5 get 2014 but wandered if there was any improvement in rail condition..

You must have had a bad one.. I've never had one chip in any of mine.. Used my new 9'5'' Mana today.. The rails got a few hard wacks and there's not a mark.

I suggest if you do buy the new 8'5" put some rail tape on if you're a rail wacker.. and also tape your paddle blade.

Put some helicopter tape on the rails - brilliant stuff - nice and clear so you don't know it is there and works better than some specifically made rail tape - eg Surftech's stuff. I've put them on all my boards...never peels off and no rail issues.

I never put guard on the paddles.....never sticks for me and if you get the purpose made rail guard spongey stuff it totally destroys how your paddle feels.....and I'm no expert at all. That's my limited experience.....hope it helps.

I think it's the glass on glass that does the damage or chipping..

I've always done this and never had a problem.

Had a couple of starboards, a surftech, a PSH ripper....Naish seem very good quality as far as rail bashing goes (and I bash around quite a bit)

Rail Saver Pro. It's a gun product. None of my boards have a mark on the rail, would not have a board without it.

Rhino Matte heli tape looks awesome but unfortunately not avaiable in NZ. I looked on you tibe and its pretty amazing stuff..One thing to consider with a rail tape protection is how easy is it to remove without damaging board as some riders dont like it o SUPs

Yea Phil if you look at the 3rd post Slab mentions it and the youtube clip shows this product. I think they use it alot on bikes or any thing that needs protecting. What i like about it was it looks very thin ..therefore less drag on board and i would imagine hard to detect thats it on the rails at all.

a few days ago I met someone who does car-wrapping.
He used the same PU foil he puts on cars on his SB whopper.
you can scratch it with a key you will not get through it.
(maybe it's the same as helicopter tape?)

I've used the naish tape before but if I hit my rail, sometimes the tape rips and I still get a ding in the rail.
or you hit the rail and the small rail bits that broke off stick to the tape but it looks like nothing happened.

I know there's a big difference between a short hard knock on the board or a long less powerfull scratch but I tried the naish tape and want to try something else.
I'm getting my board done next week!
