Hi,

I'm considering either a used Naish 11'6 from last year or this year's soft top 10'0. The price is about the same.

I will be using it for me and my kid (85+20 kg) just recreational stuff.

Will I be sick of the rubberfins and will the 10'0 be big enough for us not to struggle too much and falling in all the time? I can see that the 11'6 has more volume but it's hard to tell about stability - the 10'0 is a couple inches wider.

Which of the two would you suggest?

Thanks

hey Rex,

Ive paddled the 11'6 and the Mana 10' woody but not the soft top in flat water and small surf.
IMO the 10' would be as stable if not a little more. The 11'6 will give you more glide on flat water.
The soft top construction seems to be realy durable. I have heard from schools that use them that they are very good. Things like dings in the rails from paddle knocks and small scrathes dont show up as much. (Your kid will prob whant to paddle with you i assume and they will clunk their paddle into the rail and drag it along, its wot kids do)

The fins I wouldnt think would matter unless you are chasing chest high surf or bigger and realy edging hard and loading them up.

I ride a foam surfboard some times (Im not a gun surfer) and I cant realy tell the difference. Some of my mates can surf quiet well and the difference to them is alot more but it depends on what direction you whant to take your riding.

I would go the 10' soft top for sure, It would be sweet
