Well, someone drove through my garage door and took out my 2013 Naish Mana 8'10" GT. Their insurance is buying me a new board, so the question is out for anyone who has been on both the 8'10 and the 8'5". Is there any difference in performance/characteristics?
I really like the 8'10". It's fast to catch anything and rips quick. I'm leaning towards the 8'5", but dont want to lose any performance for larger waves. We are usually in waste high to overhead crap waves.
I do not have a chance to demo. I'm 170 lbs(77kgs).
thanks for any info/opinions.

I reckon at 77kg you should go for the 8'5. I'm 85kg and started out on the 9'5 Mana but then chopped down to a 9' Hokua and now on a 8'5 Fanatic ProWave. I really like the shorter <9' boards (with thinner rails) as you can surf them in the pocket better as they 'swing around off the top faster' and I don't really notice that they take off much later than a longer 9' - 9'6"boards. Depending on your skill level and local conditions but you could also consider the 8'3 X32 as that will be looser and more fun on a wave?

Who drives through a garage door!? At least they are insured.

I've heard the 8'5'' is the better board out of the two and it's just as stable as the 8'10''..

Thanks guys, thats what i was hoping.

"who drives through..." great question. Bought something very large from the home improvement store and had it delivered instead of renting a trailer. Their brakes didnt work when coming down the driveway. Took out my motorcycle too, and other things. Now i just need the check! Should have rented the trailer.

Thanks again!

My partner has the 8'10 and I have 8'5, as stable as each other, the 8'10 might catch a wave slightly easier but the 8'5 come alive more when on the wave. I'm 87kg

Thanks for the update…I've finally stopped laughing. Bugger. What a nightmare …at least it wasn't your wife or kids or something!
