Hi DJ. Just wondering what size board u were riding. Looks like it picked up the wave nice n early. Hoping it was an 8'3 if so i'm going to demo.

Demoed the 9"1 for about a week and a half and then just had to buy it! In WA for 2 wks but when I get back, will throw a video together. Rode it as a quad in small messy surf and then as a thruster when the face was a bit steeper. I love the fact that you can ride it as either, but I seriously fell in love with this board. Very, very easy to catch waves on - couple of quick strokes and you are just on the wave, incredibly easy to turn but also found it very stable in messy, windy conditions, because of the width. I think it would be very easy for an advanced rider to go to a shorter size, but I find the 9"1 is still manageable for me on flat water, but is just awesome in surf, including days when the waves are quite full and not very powerful.

I have been on the 8'3" LE 32 for about a month now and was lucky to pick one on the first drop. I have been supping for about 18 months mostly on 9'5" WP, dropped down to a JP 8'8" wide but sold that after a month, no rocker and too fragile for the money. Jumped on a 8'10" WP after that and liked it a lot, then saw the Naish and though if I was making a custom this would be it, took the gamble and it paid of.

The Naish 8'3" x 32 LE is simply wonderful, struggled the first few sessions with the drop in volume but now fully dialed in and every session my riding is improving. Mostly been in summer waist high but scored a nice session at Grace Town in Margaret River in head high waves on New Years Day, epic. At my 85 kg I find the Naish stable, easy to paddle onto the wave, prob easier than the WP for some reason, very loose to bottom turn and cut backs are getting better with every session. One huge standout is getting out through waves the nose just slices through and makes life so easy compared to wide nose wave sup.s, also the huge amount of nose rocker means you can drop in late with no worry of catching the nose, it's also nice and light in carbon, prob not quite as light as the WP but pretty close.

Got the 8.3 in WA and love it as all of above have said. Surfed up to 4ft easy and want to try larger surf as a thruster should be fine I reckon as it has perfect rocker and just grips more you as you push it. The tail will slide super easy and just slices into cutbacks for and and back hand with ease & also finding it loves to be pushed up the face into reos - at 94 kg and 1.95cm - 6ft 5" - this is my perfect go to board up to 6ft. The only improvement I would say is that the board is so stable and easy to throw about I reckon it should 120 litres dropping from the 131 it is at moment - not to say the board feels to corky -

I reckon the 7.10 would be fab but you might lose the great paddle speed of 8.3 and this is so important when dropping into larger faster waves

Us tall guys find short 29 " boards a real handful so these short, fast, lovely rocketed surf style boards are the bomb in 2014 - I can easily paddle a 100 lite board but the narrow width makes it a nightmare standing out the back for any length of time.

Love the look of the 7'10, and haven't really read a bad word about them generally. Surely they can drop the "Limited Edition" though can't they?

Just what I was saying on a diff thread......LE my ar@e.......these boards will be so popular they'll be making loads of them from now on......was about time Naish joined the rest of the world by making wide short SUPs. Funny really.........I think a small French company called Gong was years ahead of the rest in making short wide SUPs.....not the big names.

I am 1.93 tall and 93 kg, should i go for the 9.1 or go smaller and go for 8.8 ?
It's gonna be tricky in the beginning but i wanna learn from the board, still have 140 ltr volume.
Mostly gonna be riding in north sea conditions, that is small mushy and not that powerfull beachbreak .
Will be used in France as well for 3 weeks in summertime @ Lacanau.

Greg im 6'3 and 95kg and ride the 7'10. its sensational. ive had it some reslly good waves at gerroa over xmas new year at it performs really well. one thing i have noticed is i prefer a large blade for paddling. ive used a 90 and 100 and i think the 100 is much better.

because of the boards size take offs are later and so i found the larger blade gave me better take off power for the two to three strokes you get before you either drop in or change sides.

only run it as a quad so far, shapers s7's, goes so well havent tried a thruster set :)

So I quess I have to go for the 9.1 for stability. Is there a big difference in stability with the 8.8?

Would you downsize to a 8.8 or is the 9.1 the ideal board for you?

Very keen to hear anyone with experience on the 8"8 versus the 9"1. I would imagine not a huge difference but some feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Whilst I haven't had a go on it, I figure that with only 3" and 10 litres difference, there can't be a great difference in stability, but the 8"8 will prob go better in the surf. Where did you get educated Difference is 5 inches...that's nearly half a foot.

Ha ha, correct you are, clearly educated in a metric, not imperial world! Hopefully I won't be too much of a kook on the new board initially :)

Same here in Portugal...
I'm currently injured (knee surgery) so I can't surf.
If I could surf right now, I think i'd have been to Mundaka a couple of times this winter...

Greg, try the 8'8 they have crazy stability. I'd say the 9'1 would be for 120kg+ people .. seriously. Try smaller. try the 8'3 even!! :) once your on the wave you will be thanking yourself

its great all this talk to go smaller but what about the conditions you surf in. for me we get 12-20knt onshore winds 70% of surf time.
all i know the smaller i go in these conditions the more time i spend IN the water.
but then maybe i would go low if i was trying to surf like Kai or Keahi.
my advice is when you demo..demo in the conditions you are going to surf in ...not a lake or river.

took my new 9.1 le out this morning at cott, 6 inches to a foot sloppy cross shore. caught 3 ripples but no real test of the boards surfing capability. stability wise, more stable than my jp 8.8 widebody, heaps more rocker and a much much more aggressive nose outline, looks like it will surf really well when there's a bit more swell. surprisingly heavy, noticeably heavier than the jp and my 8.10 starboard carbon. At 106/7 kg plenty of board volume wise. would have got the 8.8 but there was only the 9.1 in stock. Hopefully take it out this weekend down south and compare it to the other shorter boards i ride.

Well hey, fortunately not everybody is so lucky to be born in surfheaven as Portugal, France etc,
I live in Belgium ,next to Holland,so the waves are not that great or consistent. Waves are morely mushy and not that powerfull.
But over the border, that is an 1 hour drive, the game is totally different!
France north coast delivers some nice swell @ Wissant/ Wimereux.
In the summer it is all French soutcoast.............Hossegor, Lacanau , Biarritz etc.........
Enough said.............now about that demo thing, the surfshops are not that keen on demo boards , most of the time it is just ordering what you want without the chance to demo.......sadly ; so that is why i am searching for some good input about the boards .
So far i guess it will be the 8.8 to go to.
Keep coming with them reviews and you make me a happy man ;

As for the surf this winter, loads of it! But the west coast of France been terribly blown out, relentlessly. Going into the second month of uglies now.

Liked the board till I was told its a china pop out! Not the cobra factory like all the other Naish's ??????
