gidday fellas, lookin to invest in one of these boards, have found a couple boards from the 2009 range selling for substantially LESS than their more recent counterparts.

aside from the option for quad as well as 2 + 1 i can't seem to find any changes

can anyone tell me what differences, if any, exist between these boards of differing vintage??

Hi Cuz ( Presuming youre talking about hokuas)
I don't know about the 9.6 specifically, but I have had a chance to go from the older model 9.3 the the current model 9 foot (they dont make the 9.3 anymore)

The main differences were -

the current model has been flattened out more in the middle of the board, more stable.

current model is lighter

current model has the concave deck, ie, nice and flat to stand on, also makes it lighter

current model has the great new shaped handle hole, i love it.

All in all the older model Naish were a great board, they just made them better!

nice1 mate yeah, the Hokua 9'6" is the one i'm trying to find info on,

the new 9' hokua looks like a weapon but alas i am a lardy arse and not much chance of 125L floating me at this stage......boohoo......damn beer, it's just so cold and refreshing

alls i can find so far is that the decal has changed along with the design on deck pad, and also that the 2011 board has option for quad/thuster setups,

shakkas!

I think you're on the money - the same shape but different fin set-up and white rails at the front. The 9'6" is awesome - I had one for about a year and have just downsized to the 9'. If I could, I'd have both boards.

I am now spending a lot of time falling in!

ha ha nice one CL, I know what you mean about having a couple boards to choose from in the shed but having a quiver of SUPS is reserved for those with plenty of change.....

the used 2009 hokua 9'6" going for half the price of newbie equivalent so thinkin wil look for a good second hand board and invest there
