saw this www.citysurfseries.com/index.php?view=home looks like a lot of fun.
Pity I live in Dunedin...

Interesting notes re 14' class which I think is a good idea.

"SUP – 14 Footers
The 14 Foot class is designed for The Bigger Paddler. Although an official weigh in won't be held, this class is for paddlers over 90kg as of Nov 15th 2012. It is a new and experimental initiative to encourage the larger paddler to be involved and compete on a level field with the lighter and smaller paddlers. This class will do a 3x Lap, 4.5km course."

Looks fun....must be nice to do the sup thing in bigger cities.
Here in giz it like...
situation A: i go for a paddle with towball
situation B: towball goes for a paddle with me

Ha, surfed a few times but prefer downwinders and flat water blasts, its easier on my knees ;-)
