Is anyone running or have tried a thruster set up on their Minion? If so how do you find it and what fins are you using.

haven't tried thruster but have been using a twin set up on small days and its grate fun and when I run the thruster set with small traling fins for extra hold and speed

I posted a similar question a couple of months a go. Do a search and it should come up.

I just gave it a go. It seems to lose its drive and feels a lot slower. That's using the Shapers S-8's. Maybe try the S8 centre fin for bigger days? Going back to the quad setup.
And I found your thread supgman, it was after reading a couple of posts I thought Id give it a go. I guess if you don't try you don't know!

Interesting feedback bob. I found the 2 set ups to be absolute chalk and cheese however it depends on the width of the board and especially in the tail. I expected the thruster to be ordinary with my Slate because it was when I tried it with my Gulliver box SUP. The Gulliver surfs much better with quad and a nubby whereas the Slate is a completely different beast and I love it. The only thing I can think of is that the Slate is only 26" wide and the tail is thinner than the Gulliver.

Mate I wanted to juice my Minion up..the 7'8 and I purchased a combo set of VP fins..speed and drive to burn :-) awesome set up..V8 & V6 at the rear

Yep have to agree the VP combo set is awesome value. I'm running V6's as a thruster in the Slate and it surfs unreal.

You do mean quadsetup?

yip bobajob..just running as a quad V8/V6..may looking to get 2 more V6 and a middle VP fin in the future to mix it up
