Recently back from a great trip to Maldives and due to possible board lenghth issues re domestic flights we included an ECS 8.3 Mckee turbo to the quiver.Wow what a great fun board this is as shown in thingsyado photos.We found it super stable but also quick and great to drive off the bottom,which was suprising given its wider tail.Really keen to hear from anyone with experience on this board,particularly thruster v quad set up also anyone who has any feedback on the Black Project paddles.Maldives were superb and a must do if ya can.

Yeah Ive got a 7 3 x 26 version of the same model .Really enjoy it its fast and fun,not too square even with squarish nose and wide tail still has nice shape about it ,sound construction ,thumbs up here. Not sure of different fin configuration as have only ridden as a thruster ,should imagine it would really squirt along with a quad set up , I should really give it a run sometime soon.

I just purchased one as well. The offer was too good haha! great looking, interesting design, and at $1100 was pretty awesome. THEN - you check out and freight was free to wollongong - pretty awesome, THEN it turns up with full carbon fixed paddle and board cover! WHOA - thats a bloody good deal.

Got a very small wave at the farm (knee high) it wasnt the best day to test a new board, but first impressions are way more stable then the sizes suggest and when i got some speed turns like crazy... Will keep this updated when some new waves roll in,

Awesome to hear guys! Very positive feedback. I ride my turbo as a tri fin now, used to as quad but went back to tri. I find you get tighter turns and more bottom drive but also release when you want. I used the 7'3 at the state titles this year & I currently ride the carbon 2016 prototype 6'10 we made as my foil sup.

Agree with Pohaku i found the turbo worked best for me as a thruster.

sorry to hijack this thread but has anyone surfed the ECS slab?? was wondering how it would go on mostly crappy breach break and if a fat old bloke at 98KG could get on the 7'11 x 28 3/4 x 4 1/4 (121L)... current smallest boards are 135 lt.

Yeah mate, its been a super popular model. Originally made for slop but found it performs great in all conditions. Glenn Turner won the 40s Aussie title last year on the Slab. i'll find some pics soon and attach.

At similar lengths and volumes why / what conditions would you choose a Slab over Turbo (or vice versa) ?
How do the nose rockers compare ?

its an awesome question GbootsIve only got the turbo (and only just got it too) but I've had 3 surfs in total small mushier stuff and found the turbo (with 3d quads with circa 4" rears) super fast and loose... I chose the turbo as it looked to have a more aggressive rocker and a slight curve to the outline / not as parallel rails as the Slab - a little more of an all-rounder i hoped. So far - surfs small stuff better than I had dare dreamed. here's hoping its the same in some size.
