Hi,

I'm looking for some advice on getting my first SUP. I'm 65-70kg and about 6"1'. Not looking to spend up too big.

I'm keen for an all rounder that goes well on both flat water and in small surf (1-3ft).

Have experience riding a mini mal for the last 5 years.

I'm getting heaps of conflicting advice from local shops and was hoping to get some advice here. I'm looking at the Evoke from SW... probs just the basic model (is it worth me getting the carbon?), I've also looked at the Starboard Element, although this is heaps more expensive and seems as though it will be tougher to master. Also looking at the ECS EVO.

Looking at the 9"2' evoke 10" Evo or the 9"8' SB.

Thoughts or advice appreciated... i hope this is the right forum to ask this stuff. Apologies if I've erred :)

Try a second hand 10'6" ish sup. Might be a little big but great size for flat water/small waves and an easy sell when you move onto something smaller. 1k should get you something good

Hey. I've already had some experience using a 10ft Trigger Bros sup on flat and in small surf. I felt pretty confident using that and didn't fall off much at all so don't think I want to go bigger. Was able to ride the face of the wave.

I've looked around for used boards (almost bought one yesterday - but it fell through) and am struggling to find something suitable. The links above are either too expensive for second hand or not available in Victoria, where I live.

I'm currently weighing up between the following 2 new boards. Any advice on these would be great:

ECS EVO 10"
ecsboards-australia.com.au/collections/evo/products/evo-blue

or

SBWH EVOKE 9"2' or 10" (Leaning to the 9"2' - is this silly?)

www.thesurfboardwarehouse.com.au/evoke-sup/

Both boards are delivered to my door for 1200 and include a carbon paddle and everything else I need.

Thoughts?

Your on the right track mate, at your weight the 9"2 will be fine...plus cost effective.

Once you get right into it you will find that you will either expand into a quiver or getting something more high performance, once again at your weight there are many options.

Happy surfing...oh and don't forget to show respect:)
