Hi - just got back from trip round Oz - have been riding the Smik longboard Bonza - been brilliant in longer larger ( just o/head ) waves in WA and south Oz. Home on the mid north coast NSW - arrived 6 weeks ago and been small and choppy! I need a different board for this surf - maybe something like the " Sunova Steeze Smik Style lord ". About 9'6" by 32 or even 33" wide and abt 135 to 145 litres - with arthritis and health issues I need a stable board. Have two bonzer boards that are brilliant, but now hard work for me ( knee replaced ) Suggestions please! Thanks ??

Hi mate, sounds like you had a great trip. If you are keeping the Smik and want another board for choppy and bumpy conditions I might suggest the Sunova Ghost in either the 9'1 or 8'10 size. The more pulled in nose won't catch in chop as easy when riding those messy types of waves. And I believe Rick designed the board to be super stable and easy to catch waves and still perform when the wave face allows.

Might be worth a look, if not the Sunova Casey Revo 10x30 that I own is stable in most water conditions for me. The x32 might fit your needs better and it's a great around board if you like the longboard style.

I'd look more at something like a JL Superfrank, or Sunova One / Ghost.

Stable, fast, easy to catch waves.

I have a Sunova One 9'5 and it is really fun in waves up to head high. It's 32" wide and 160L.

Here's a vid of Rick surfing one:

It catches waves super easy, is basically their most stable board for its size (the rails are not super thin) and is just a fun all rounder.

The JL can be had in a 9'6 x 31.5 x 140L... I would say the JL offers higher performance than the One - if you really need it. Haven't seen a Ghost yet.

I have a 8'10 Ghost. I'm 78kg and I find it a lot of hard work in choppy conditions. Once you're on a wave it is truly an awesome board and I love it. I would recommend a 9 x 32 Revolution, as I have a 10' one. This is far less work in choppy conditions and really a fun board.
