Hi all
New to seabreeze and being supping for a few months. Currently riding an 9'5 allwave and was looking into getting a long board style board for those windy days and cruising. Was looking at something approx 11' long and 32 wide. What options do you think would suit. Dont want to send alot. IM about 98kg.

Welcome to the Breeze .. I'm not sure what other brands have to offer but as far as Naish goes you could buy an old 11'4"x30" Nalu for about $1200 or pay a little more (about $1599) and buy the new 11'x31" Nalu like mine.. Mine is the slightly more expensive GT version.. Awesome board.. I'm about your weight and here's short vid of mine..

A10 it is a very different board and as good as the classic 10'6" is IMO the new 11' board is much better in so many ways..

The rocker is very different and going back to the 10'6" makes the 10'6" feel flat and stiff to turn..

I like the modern looking squared off round nose on the new 11' Nalu.. It looks more like the classic Laird boards.. and the 10'6" looks a little dated with its plain round nose..

One of the biggest differences would not even be noticed by most people.. The 10'6" has a slightly lowered standing area that is only noticeable by the slight ridge along each rail (where the deck pad meets the rail) in the standing area.. The new 11' board is very different because is continues the classic domed deck that's very obvious in the tail area and slight through the nose but there is a slight double concave in the standing area so instead of feeling like your ankles are getting rolled out it feels like an old comfee slipper or like and old board that has slight deck compressions in the standing area.. That double concave is noticable if you pause this vid at about the 3.27 mark.

The Starboard Noserider 10' is also another option..is a great board. Has enough rocker for a steeper drop in yet runs real fast down the line and will turn sharp without having to get right over the fins, was a giving board that responded easily to weight shifts. I love the noserider in 2/3 rolling waves.

It's a big chunky beginners board.. Paddles flat water great but only ok when it comes to surfing.. It's a better flat water board than the 10'6" and 11' Nalu but not in the same league when it comes to surfing a wave..

How much do you want to spend?Most boards new will be between $1500 and $2200.If you budget does not run to this then we will be talking a secondhand board,or an x brand .Most people will not advise buying x brand so secondhand it is.I don't know about other States but Sth Aus is very short of longer sups and longboards so it is first in best dressed and a little biased toward the seller.The results from my similar enquiry on here are ,Naish Nalu 11ft,Laird surfer,Sunova style xl,Tom Carroll long grain,jimmy lewis black and blue,and maybe Starboard blend ,or noserider.Any of these boards are going to be hard to come by(secondhand) this time of year.and some of them so new that they will not be available pre owned.Short answer ,Naish Nalu or Starboard are most likely to come up secondhand..Good Luck

I would beg to differ.
Buying any "x" brand at random is not worth it, but some "x" brands can provide quality and price by having less middlemen/sponsorship/marketing and close involvement in the production process.
And a know brand may resell higher, but the loss will be much higher on a $2400 board than a $800 one... On a $2400 board you lose at least $800 the instant you leave the shop.

I don't know the OZ brands, but for instance the last one I heard of, Atlantis, seemed very interesting, and of course there may be others.

But, of course, the gut feeling is very important in SUP (and surfing). If you fall in love with a model/shape/brand, just buy it (if it stable enough for your level), you will enjoy more a board you like for its looks/history/aura than one you don't "click" on, even if their performance is the same.

for the love of god, also have a look at the laird 10-6 x 32" surfer. it's an incredibly sophisticated design, neatly foiled and quite thin. Volume is only 150L, compared to 175L with the 11' x 31" Nalu. it's shorter than the Nalu but it's at the same time it'd wider. I haven't ridden the Nalu but I bet the Laird is just as stable (because of the added width). And because of its thinness, and the way it's foiled, it is super lively on a wave. really, you should check it out.

Sorry I got the wrong impression when you said you didn't want to spend a lot ,for me 2k for a board is a lot,I personally think they all should be under $1200.Most boards will be in your bracket .If you are checking out the Laird Surfer 10'6" make sure it is the Surfer wide ,as the other 10'6" surfer is only 30" wide and around 140 litres.Cheers

I've got the surftech Laird 10'6 and come from a longboard surfing background and it works very good for that style of surfing. I'm pretty sure Surftech don't do them anymore. Its had a read hiding but still holding up well. Would love to try the 10'4 Tom Carroll board though and some of the new Sunovas look good too.
