Recently bought new arms for my lockrack system as I was really happy with the convenience and security of this design. The longer arms enable you to carry two boards, first mock up... there is a 6-7 cm gap on both sides of the bottom board (front only). It seems quite secure however just wondering if this is normal ??? Will this move around at highway speeds? Or will the top board actually 'lock in" the bottom board???......

Normal mate, as long as you have pressure on the top board you'll be fine. I've travelled to Newcastle like that with no worries. The bottom board may move slightly across diagonal but no matter, it can't fly out. If you are at all concerned just put a short tie down around the noses of both boards tied together on a long high speed trip, tail too if you're really paranoid.

Totally agree, even had a much thinner mal on the bottom, no probs. Travelled literally 000's of k's like this.

Nothing if that's what you want to use. Lock racks are very convenient if your dealing with fairly large boards, on and off roof and secured in seconds.

Plus they're a lot more secure. Kanu Lock straps are pretty good also but the Lock Racks add ease to the loading/unloading process, especially if it's windy

Thanks for the reassurance, went for a bit of a drive yesterday and it seemed fine.... Ricardo1709 the other advantage is security, if I take two boards to a remotish surf spot I can leave one on the car and know its pretty safe...
