^^^DJ - I think you can assume the answer to that as it's posted in a SUP forum.

I broke about 4 leashes before purchasing a Balin 'Super SUP' leash (I actually bought 2 just in case)

www.psups.com.au/sup-shop/

One is still in the packet, as the first one is still going strong well after 12 months, even though it's dragged my 110kegs along quite a few times.

Bought the same . I recon my leg will tear off before my leash breaks . I went an 8ft leash for a 8'7" board . For any size surf .

I narrowed my choice to only 2 brands, for the quality of the design of the cord attachments:
- Creature of Leisure
- Ocean & Earth "ONE" (note that Kommunity premium are the same)

- I use a length X for a board up to X'8" (7' for a 7'8")
- As I live in a small wave place, I use "comp" (5mm thick) cords most of the time, the gain in speed is noticeable. But I have regular thickness (7mm) for good days or bigger ones for oceanic trips.

I don't think they're doing those hand-tied leashes any more, are they? Been superseded by Balin's 10mm "stormrider" production version (which is bloody good IMO...I'm a heavy man with heavy boards, just the ticket for me)

I'm being decidedly un-Australian here, but I get XM leggies from the US for $25 or so each and they're great. They also have a quick release pin. I'd love to support Balin etc but I've only seen those Storm leggies for about $60....?

Why not use 8-10 mm shock cord fixed to fitting off a broken rope. Or is it not cool looking enough?

Had one leg rope snap then purchased Balin's 10mm "stormrider"". So far so good. Used for 1/2 yr.

that is absurdly cheap......I usually of course bleat on about the creatures 10' outer reef.....now marketed as the 10' sup leash......but prefer the 12' in big conditions...more stretch and seems less inclined to fin cuts
