Here are some pics of a beautiful King's SS Especiale known as the Monsterpiece.

Loosely based on the SS Model with a very pulled in nose and different bottom contours.

Dims are 9'4" x 30.75" x 4.25" x 127 liters.

Am trying the C-Drives this winter instead of the Lopez Quads with a Darc Nub of last season.

Works in waist to head and a half, carvomatic baby!

Little known factoid. Ian Cairns' boards are shaped by Dave Daum at King's!

Looks beautiful. Can you describe what this board has that led you to it? Maybe, compared to what you already had in the past, the conditions, your size, ability, etc.

The rear fin seems quite far forward, I'm interested in how it goes with the c-drives set up like that.

Yup. FCS II boxes everywhere so the center fin is not adjustable.

Smaller waves I like them as they seem looser than AM or Shapers S 9's, but in larger head high plus I am not fully convinced!

I bought the C-drives to try in my 7'6" JP Slate before my cardiac adventure. Ended up preferring five small Von Piros V 6 that were all the same size.

I was looking at that tail set up that appears to have a significant lift and,I and thought it looked like it might suit a quad set up better.
The rear fin does not look like it's going to engage as well as a quad may.
Photos don't always convey the true design so, just my thoughts.
cheers.

I must say I love the C-Drives in a thruster setup. With their added drive, you get the drive of a quad, but the control and tight turns of a thruster.

Yup. Last winter I rode it as quad with a DARC triangle knubster. Worked really well.

But, I am a fin junky and wanted to try the C-Drives. So far they feel slightly stiffer, on initial turn initiation, than the quad knub combo. However, carving on bigger winter open faces is a lot of fun.

I wish I could try a set of much smaller C-Drives as my experience has been that in my short 7"11' King's bigger fins work much better. Small fins in big boards, big fins in small boards seems to work.

For a real interesting experience I put some MR twins in the Monsterpiece, awesome in small waves, dreaded speed wobble in juicer stuff. Click in the trailer and fun was had!

Colas, your experiences, vids, and guidance were invaluable in helping me figure out my JP 7'6" Slate, and my King's 7'11".

Rodriguez , the tail lift is what helps that HUGE BEAST carve. Gotta get back there though! Good eyes, mate!

Cheers!
