As suggested by others posters i do truly declare no financial interest in Ke Nalu,There now thats done,I recently had the rare misfortune to suffer an issue with my Ke Nalu x tuff shaft and i would just like to post that Dean from Ke nalu has been first class on warranty and back up support.I have the Maliko 95 on xtuff shaft and its a great paddle.Thats all, happy ending.

love my mana 84 on the soft xtuf--great for paddle-in bursts, and easy on the shoulders--cut mine a couple cm's longer than my height

got two konihi 84's who are very jealous--aint touched those girls since i got on my mana!

and i found the konihi's excellent (bought a spare even!)....til i tried the mana

Yes I did the same switched from two Kohini 84 to a Mana 82 and a Mana 90. All on Xtuff(S). Old shoulders and neck could not take the 90Flex......used them for everything.

I use the Mana 90 for downwinder. A very experienced paddle rin the Gorge and Hawaii also prefers it over the other models.
It has a very direct catch which works well when you are reaching and taking a few short strong strokes to get into a bump.

Yep Mana's are the go Maxeeboy, I have have the 82 & 90 so you are welcome to try one next time we can catch up for a downwinder.
They have a very different feel to the wiki? that I think you are using.

Hey mate,
How do you decide which sized paddle you use, on any given day? Is it based on the distance or conditions??

Thanks,
Scott.

Depends on board and conditions.
Blackfish 24" Flat M82, Choppy M90
Blackfish 26" Flat & Choppy M82 DW M90
Ace-GT Flat & choppy M90
Riviera RP-DW DW M90
I just GPS which paddle is faster for board and sea conditions.

Depends on how my dodgy shoulder is feeling.
I started out with the 82 because I was using a 84 Konihi but the 82 just felt tiny and I thought my shoulder issues were behind me so then ordered a 90, mainly for downwinding.
I was loving the 90 and was going faster than I ever have on my local run, I was absolutely loving it, I seemed to be able to pull myself on to every bump, I was doing heaps of k's each week (to many) then only days before The Doctor I started feeling shoulder pain again.
I persisted and did The Docter, the KOTC the following week I had to dose up on voltaren it was that sore.

I pretty much had a couple of months off after that and my shoulder feels ok again now but I will be mainly using my 82 ,the 90 will only come out for the odd Downwinder, I know I am faster with it but at a cost.

P.S. I am well into my 50's.
If I was younger and knew my shoulder could handle it I would use the 90 all the time on downwinders and I am hoping if I take it easy for a while I might be able too.
Flat, distance it's always going to be the 82 for me.

I've got both the Wiki and Maliko that I use for surf, that I'm happy with. Every now and then I think of experimenting with the other blades but don't want to mess with a good thing.

woops--my bad--it's a mana 82

will soon buy another mana blade, and then swap with a konihi, which will soon be for sale.

other konihi and my allwave 8'11" ltd moved in with my old father in florida, who i need to visit more often, and will, when the wave forecast is good! 2hr flight from brooklyn and he lives a 10 min drive from sebastian inlet.

nice waves=good son who visits often!

Thanks for your detailed response mate, appreciated.
Ideally I would like to be able to try them both, but will most likely just take the leap of faith on the 90.

Thanks again,
Scott.

Great paddles. Have had for 4 years without any dramas. Wiki xtuf combination for surf, konihi95 + 90% flex carbon shaft for flat/ocean. The bonus is that if you want to get the newest (mana) , you only need a new blade. happy customer

Just taken that leap myself on Deans advice for 90kg 6' 40s paddler coming from qb magic 90, to mana 90 xtufs (was going to go 82) could not be happier, very sweet blade and shoulder friendly, it's quality is apparent when you handle it straight out of the box and it is stealth..

For some funny reason I find you can really bury this blade easily so maybe consider cutting a little longer initially?

Got a few paddle and to finance for a new Kenalu Konihi 84 with xtuf shaft and I was gonna buy the blade only but 1" short to mana 90 so had to sell the complete mana 90.

I'll be in the market for a new paddle soon.

The KeNalu product is absolutely first rate and Deano, the bloke that imports them is one of natures true gentlemen, except for his love of weird assed haircuts. I have used this product for both racing and surfing and I am extra hard on equipment. These things simply just keep working. They also feel so soft in the hand (and I do have shoulder issues). The final awesome thing about them is if they do break them is the replacement policy.

I had a severe SLAP II shoulder injury last year so I was looking for the ultimate shoulder friendly paddle. I went and did a demo-day of the whole line. The techie in me said to go with the new Mana 90...but out of the whole line I kept going back to the Wiki 84....there is something so sweet about the paddle. Catch is sweet, it holds solid, still has the pull for catching waves.
