Can anyone provide feedback on Ke Nalu Ho'oloa paddles?
Looking at a paddle with slight amount of flex, not too much, exclusively for surf.
Would the Elite 90 be the shaft to use?
Cheers

The Ho'oloa is a great surf paddle but after years of trying different paddles and shafts I find the xtuf (s) shaft is the only one that I want to use.

I have an elite 90 as well and tried it again yesterday on a downwinder, it confirmed I still prefer the xtuf (s), the elite 90 is just too stiff, at least for me.

I am in my 50s and have had shoulder issues though, they pretty much went away as soon as I went down to an 84 blade and xtuf (s) shaft.

I've got a ho'oloa 84 with xtuf (s) shaft.

I've had a carbon 80 fanatic and also own a Werner Ripstick.

The Ke nalu is the best by far. Not too stiff or too flexy (the Werner is too stiff for me), the extra grip from the textured shaft is awesome in the surf. The 84" is perfect size for me too.

Cheers for the replies.
The weight chart on their website is steering me at 100kg towards a 95.
Did you guys go for an 84 because you're lighter, or paddle quickly?

I also use the XTuff shaft and the smallest size. But I am 70 with shoulders ruined from baseball and hockey. And a midget.

I have been using the same paddle, 84, for at least two years, probably longer. Works great for me. I am 93 kg (and have been heavier...).

I had another big name paddle with a much larger blade and stiffer shaft. I prefer the Ke Nalu Ho'oloa with the smaller 84 blade.

I'm between 100-110kg during the year, love the 84 in surf and my shoulders are thankful.

Yes i'm not the fastest paddler back through the waves, but getting on a wave is easy-as and thats what i'm interested in...
